First thing I do with a new laptop is totally and permanently disable the wireless.
Ok, maybe first I put the band-aid over the camera...
draw the curtains in my Faraday cage...
but seriously, wireless is mischief waiting to happen.

Kinda stunned at the lack of an authentication protocol — including a checksum based on a confidential key would be quite enough.

How do you permanently disable the wireless. My old viao had a button and you could actually turn it off. my new computers all have a software disable. and it is as secure IMHO as any software, not much.
