The conservative establishment is still cocky and thinks it has the answers. 2010 happened and they did not listen. 2014 happened and they did not listen. Why listen? They already know the answers. They know it all.
Cruz is doing an autopsy on his campaign. If he were SOS it would be closer to a cover-up. The campaign staff that was too cocky to use its best asset...its supporters is doing its own autopsy. Of course, if you are the subject of the autopsy you are dead.

If Cruz is smart, he will consider who his convention audience is and who his TV audience is and how the convention audience applause (or boos) can influence the TV audience.

To those mentioning Ted Cruz, they endorsed him only at the last moment as a ploy to try to deny Trump the nomination outright and get to a brokered convention. They never ran much in the way of articles supporting Cruz, only opposing Trump.
What they wanted was a brokered convention that would deliver a globalist, cheap labor candidate like Rubio or Ryan.
It would be interesting to see their list of major donors. They seem to exist for the sole purpose of defending post-American global business interests that profit from the de-industrialization of America and the ever-increasing government and consumer debt in this country.
