Donald Trump said that he would ask Congress for a declaration of war on terrorism. Nice idea but war can only be declared on an opposing nation or state. Declaring "war" on an ideology is akin to declaring "war" on drugs or poverty. Were we truly to declare "war" on something, we would employ every weapon, expend every effort to eliminate that thing, not write meaningless policy and allow lawyers to dilute the efforts of military and law enforcement. We would fight until the "enemy" capitulated.
