Keanu Reeves has long been known to be a stellar actor, one who can play serious and hilarious roles. Something else he's becoming known for is his wisdom. It's not something you often find in celebrities.

Every few months, he gives the world the gift of his thoughts. And now I'll leave you with them. Enjoy. I hope you take from it what I did.

“I cannot be part of a world where men dress their wives as prostitutes by showing everything that should be cherished. Where there is no concept of honor and dignity, and one can only rely on those when they say “I promise" .

Not sure about the validity of the commentary. No date and time. But, there's a whole lot in here that rings true. I'd like to believe he made the comments. Some of us have seen him running a 3 gun course so I suppose it's plausible he made the comments.

“Keanu Reeves has long been known to be a stellar actor”
Sounds suspicious already

I don’t know if Keanu really said this, but AFAIK, he generally keeps his mouth shut on political things.

With a grain of salt, I submit that Snopes says it is false.

But I agree with the message.

“I cannot be part of a world where men dress their wives as prostitutes by showing everything that should be cherished.

Since when do men dress their wives? (I mean other than in Muslim countries where obviously the clothing does not show anything that should be cherished)?

In fact, I think that if one member of a couple dresses the other one, it's usually the woman who dresses the man, whether by request, demand, or suggestion.

What ever else Keanu may be, he seems to hold himself to a much higher personal standard than the rest of Hollywood - the kind of guy who would give a homeless man the shirt off his back, unlike most celebritards who, from their 10,000sf mansions in their gated communities, call for taxing the middle class (but not themselves) to put more people on welfare.

What context were these remarks taken from?
To whom was he speaking or what question was asked?
It almost reads like pages from one’s private memoirs. A collection of various and sundry inner held beliefs.
Keanu is financially set, so he can say what he pleases to a great degree. I suppose it is rare that a Hollywood actor espouses traditional family values.

“I cannot be part of a world where men dress their wives as prostitutes by showing everything that should be cherished. Where there is no concept of honor and dignity, and one can only rely on those when they say “I promise” .

Where women do not want children, and men don’t want a family.

Where the suckers believe themselves to be successful behind the wheel of their fathers` cars, and a father who has a little bit of power is trying to prove to you that you’re a nobody.

Where people falsely declare that they believe in God with a shot of alcohol in their hand, and the lack of any understanding of their religion.

Where the concept of jealousy is considered shameful, and modesty is a disadvantage.

Where people forgot about love, but are simply looking for the best partner.

Where people repair every rustle of their car, not sparing any money or time, and themselves, they look so poor that only an expensive car can hide it.

Where the boys waste their parents money in nightclubs, aping under the primitive sounds, and girls fall in love with them for this.

Where men and women are no longer identifiable and where all this together is called freedom of choice, but for those who choose a different path-get branded as retarded despots.

I choose my path, but it’s a pity that I did not find similar understanding in the people among whom I wished to find it most of all …

Thanks. Some interesting thoughts, whether they come from Keanu Reeves (who was very cute when I was young) or someone else.

I’m not saying Snopes is right. I have no problem pushing the message along, as long as a disclaimer is included that it may or may not be the words of Keanu Reeves. 8>) By spreading a lie, you give people reason to attack the message. The message is far more important than the messenger in this case.

Very good point. Many is the time, I have seen a woman leading her man around the department store, selecting sweaters and holding them up to his torso as though he were a helpless child. It’s something they both have agreed to, for one reason or another. I have never seen the reverse, a man holding women’s garments up to his wife’s torso to see how they appear, unless the woman is disabled, say in a wheelchair. Then, yes, I saw it once.

This all seems so familiar.

When and where did he supposedly say this? Because I saw an AMA he did on Reddit, and his style is more “Man, I love hoagies. There’s this awesome deli in Santa Monica that makes the best hoagies...”

“men dress their wives”
Just what culture are you talking about?
My wife’s opinion of my clothing tastes can best be described as “affectionate amused tolerance”.

He is as boring as can be. He looks stoned and scruffy all the time.
