We respectfully request a call to Congress for legislation that would require every state to recognize and honor licenses for concealed firearms carry issued by every other state. A Concealed Weapons Permit issued by one state needs to be recognized universally within all states in the same way that all states recognize every other states' drivers licenses.
We also ask the President to create a federal Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP) by Executive Order. The CWP would be issued to citizens until, or in lieu of, legislation requiring universal recognition of state concealed carry licenses. In doing so, the government should adopt the 'shall carry' standard. CWP issuance should be based on ATF Form 4473 criteria and must not be based on income, race, occupation, or sexual orientation
“Thanks for the laugh!”

I don’t ever want to see a federal concealed weapons permit system.
Ive got a better idea, no restrictions, carry as you wish, where you wish. It’s a constitutional right that should not be infringed.
Done!
The problem with this is that, by the time Congress is done with it, states like New Hampshire (shall issue, no qualification, no prints, no photo) will have to “federalize” with requirements that are OK with Dianne Feinstein and Chuck Schumer.
The Feds have NO AUTHORITY over state permits. What you SHOULD want is recognition of all 50 states’ permits by the District of Columbia, a subject over which Congress has complete and total authority.
It would be better to request Federal intervention of the illegal gun laws California has recently implemented causing self-incrimination.
Then again, that would be a laugh too.
bingo agreed
So, are you saying the 2nd is your CCW? LOL!
What about states that do not require a permit to carry concealed?
Not a federal system.
It should be JUST LIKE MARRIAGE. Every state recognizes marriages performed in other states. CCW should be the same.
I posted too soon.
Your idea is much better.
Ok, explain this.
“We also ask the President to create a federal Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP) by Executive Order.”
Just no, never, no way, no how ever.
Um, no.
Constitutional Carry.
If anything, congress has the power to regulate this as they have drivers’ licenses as part of the interstate commerce clause.
No permits, no national license. My RKBA doesn’t COME from government, it predate its existence.
Thanks anyway.
NB
The issue of the petition is “concealed” carry. Nearly every state allows open carry. But I think there is only one state that allows concealed carry without a permit/license. As far your RKBA, courts have held that concealed carry restrictions do not infringe upon that. Current concealed carriers are impeded by different restrictions and licensing requirements in every state. Worst of it all, someone can go to great lengths to obtain a concealed carry permit only to find that it is useless if they visit, work in, or even travel through another state. So, again, this is only regarding concealed carry.
If it gets enough votes Obama must issue a public respond.
We know he won’t. But if we start pursuing it now then maybe at some point it will happen. Regardless, we need to speak with one loud voice. This petition will allow us to do that. Also, as mentioned above, if we get enough signatures Obama must respond publicly.
Not “should” not, “shall” not, let there be no confusion.
That would still take congressional action. Awareness is paramount to any such action.
Sign the petition.
It’s half way over the hump to make it go public. Any help is very greatly appreciated.

In my view “nationalizing” things is a slippery slope and a good way to further water down the 10th Amendment. Although I do also think the Bill of Rights is sacrosanct and should not be infringed, even by the states. I’m conflicted.
