Quotable, controversial, anarchic, charismatic and handsome (in an ugly way), the zany avant-garde rocker Frank Zappa had everything one needs to be a star, except talent.

The doc “Eat That Question: Frank Zappa in His Own Words” cuts together concert and interview footage to make it clear that Zappa (who died in 1993) was once famous, though it doesn’t tell us why.

If you got sufficiently high, and I’m not talking weed here, Zappa’s music faded into the background and the lyrics started broadcasting to you personally. It was like another brain connection.

I read the article. It’s nonsense.

Zappa produced crap by the buckets-load but he also put out some very good stuff. Sheik Yerbouti was a good album, as was Uncle Meat, as was Weasels Ripped My Flesh, as was...
