I hope to sing this as special music in my church next year. I would have done it this year, but someone else sang “America”.

I last saw that clip about 4 or 5 years ago ... and it still moves me.

I'd forgotten there is an intro ... a prayer.

We used to not be ashamed of God nor afraid to speak His name and worship his Son.

I'm afraid we're all gonn'a have to admit, we're just a bunch'a usta'be's .... but we don't haver to STAY here .... WE'RE AMERICANS !

I always liked some of her very first recordings, the rather jazz-tinged “One Sweet Letter From You” and “I’m Gonna Meet My Sweetie Now,” from 1927, where she provided the vocal accompaniment for the Charleston Chasers jazz group.

Thank you so much for this treat ,,, my 71 yr. old chest began to swell with pride right away . I remember Kate when I was very young and America’s greatest generation saved us from two foreign invaders ,,, the folks back then were happy and very proud to be Americans .

God Bless America ,,,, and send the crony career politicians to hell for what they’ve done so far .

This is said to be Kate Smith's first recording. It's from the 1926 Broadway show Honeymoon Lane, in which she performed.

The LIttle White House

My favorite version is by Waring's Pennsylvanians:

The Little White House

“God Bless America” is an American patriotic song written by Irving Berlin in 1918 and revised by him in 1938.

Irving Berlin (born Israel Isidore Baline; May 11, 1888 – September 22, 1989) was an American composer and lyricist, widely considered one of the greatest songwriters in American history. His music forms a great part of the Great American Songbook. Born in Imperial Russia, Berlin arrived in the United States at the age of five
