No Governor will be chosen by Trump. This is not a typical political situation.

LePage probably fits into Trump's future ... as an equal among men if not actual formal position ... but politically I don't see them doing it via VP, and I doubt LePage would want that even if it were politically viable ... LePage is in many ways the original Trump, the original WYSIGYG, the original 'Screw 'em if they don't like what I'm saying or how I saw it, we need to get stuff done, I want to help the people of my state.'

That's not to say I don't WANT that.

LePage is pure, pure, pure authenticity ... when Maximus said in Gladiator 'Don't choose me to lead' and what's his name, the current good emperor said 'that is why it must be you' ... because he didn't want it, didn't want the power, only cared about the honor of Rome and his people ... that's pretty much LePage, except LePage isn't in as good physical shape as Russell Crow was at the time. And probably never will be :-) ... other than that, he's what we need to save the Republic.

Concur - Alabama’s Bentley is a big no. And that was even before the scandal broke.

I would nominate Kansas gov Sam Brownback. Prolife stalwart, careful with the budget (as close as the rinos and hard left Supreme Court will permit by violating separation of powers). Sam has stood up to the heat, has not backed down. Proven to follow his convictions.

He did oppose the Iraq incursion at the time. But maybe that was in the long term correct—and another example of Sam the Man standing tall.

Iowa gov Branstad would not be a strong pick. Totally beholden to ADM and farm lobbyists. Good on the budget, generally supportive but not vocal about prolife.

He would be a quiet no waves selectee. But not a top tier vote getter.

Won’t be Snyder from Michigan - Flint Water Leaded or Unleaded will be a problem for years to come. Use to be gas now it is water. Synder is in his second term. It won;t be former Sarah Palin - her daughter Bristol’s second out of marriage pregnancy and son Trip’s problems divorce and trouble with the law will be a drain for Trump. It is odd the sins of the children are causing problems for the parents. Oddly enough the Hildabeast’s son -in- law his problems are more substanial and yet the Dems view this as a strength

Before Trump, I favored drafting LePage outright for President (along with Cruz).

I think the most interesting would be McCrory of North Carolina or Hutchison of Arkansas

Neither will be it

Frankly I don’t think he will pick a governor

Authenticity and not backing down is the only antidote to the media.

I am fairly sure Robert Bentley will not be on the ticket.

Isn’t NC yearning to return the governorship this year to “the democracy”?

I think Greg Abbott of Texas would be an interesting choice.

He beat liberal darling Wendy Davis by 21 % and did it by spending much of his time campaigning in the border counties going right after her base. His wife is Mexican - American and his best ad featured his Spanish-speaking mother-in-law saying what a great guy her daughter married.

He’s fiercely conservative and endorsed Cruz in the primary.

His personal story is inspirational;. As a young man he suffered a freak accident that broke his back. He’s been in a wheelchair ever since. Still, he finished law school, had a good career, became attorney general of Texas where he hired Ted Cruz as solicitor general and the two of them looked for suits where they could challenge Washington’s overreach with Abbott picking the cases and Cruz arguing them in the Supreme Court. He said he wanted to make a national difference so they challenged stuff having little to do specifically with Texas.

When Rick Perry retired, He ran for governor and in a hugely high profile race, kicked Wendy Davis’s butt.

It would be an interesting pick for Trump.
