As a boy the 4th of July was deeply meaningful to me and it was a lot of fun. but now I find this holiday is puzzling.
it should correspond to actual freedom.
I see less and less evidence of that in my area.
4th of July simply an excuse for lower-income Mexicans to run absolutely wild with firecrackers and fireworks, which technically are illegal but for some reason none of them get busted.
actual progress would be to get rid of the 4th of July since we are not actually free, now.
There should be honesty.
