To me the most astonishing thing about the article was how the author felt he had to throw in politics into a “science” article. He attacks the “right-wing” and drags in Alex Jones and Infowars, etc.

I guess he has to show his bosses that he’s still on their plantation, even though he has visited middle America.

One detail left out of the earthquake/bridge conundrum is consideration of the approaches to the actual bridge structure. Many of the bridges will survive and still be unusable until the access on each end is rebuilt.

The bridge may survive the initial earthquake but when the Memphians riot and get out of control like they have in the past, the bridge will be useless and impassable.
