Over the past 5 mos I have been thinking why do I not have a crucifix in my home. I've had them before & even thru all my travels where Christianity is not welcome I've had them on the wall at home & abroad. I just never pursued it.
Every so often in our neighborhood when one has objects/things that are no longer wanted you put them on the curb in hopes someone might find some type of last use.
Later on in the evening I went outside to check my front garden and re-arrange some now outdoor houseplants and spotted something near to the curb. I walked down a little bit and I found a thin but heavy brass crucifix say about 6 & 3/4's L by 3 & 1/4 to 1/2.
I picked up a small photo album with the name of a funeral home scripted on the cover. The photo album was completely empty as I riffed thru the pages.
On top of the photo album were a pair of a tyke's brown boots ;a roaming toddler to make sure he/she didn't fall with the sturdy sole & heel.
I know most of my neighbors but perhaps someone else outside our enclave placed these items there to put a painful death behind them and move on. I truly do not know but I'm putting up the crucifix in a prominent spot and the little boots & will find a special place, a special home, a special child who may one day wear these boots again in memory of a life cut short.
It's all a mystery to me and if you feel moved, pray.
That’s kind of eerie, and I know it shouldn’t be. It could be a way of God making someone special find these things and give them the respect they deserve.
Could be God’s way of letting you know some poor soul in your vicinity has lost their faith and you need to be ready to reach out to them. If so, He’ll be opening that window shortly...
Do check obituaries for the area.
Or, a crucifix figure might not be that person’s way of relating to Jesus Christ or God.
In the bible, one metaphor that shoes or boots serve as, is the willingness to carry the gospel of peace in the war of Christians against the unseen forces of evil.
Pick up your cross, lace up your sturdy boots and keep going, soldier.
