I used to lift, I wasn’t impressed either. Not that I could press that.

Those were the days, eh?

I maxed 400 press and squat for a very short time while weighing about 220-225 pounds, to be honest. That was during my early thirties, soon after getting back to a National Guard unit from initial training (13 weeks for my specialty). Went a couple of months doing sets (six sets press, middle two at 335 pounds around that time) without bothering to check max (2nd row, rugby), but a 270-pound NCAA lineman kept teasing me and offering to spot. On the squats, I’d been doing a lot of extensions (two sets) while upping weight for those (for 2nd row). The routine was five days a week, alternating between upper and lower body.

That was then, decades ago. Now, I’m much older and not so impressive myself, struggling every now and then to get rid of some flab. ;-)
