Despite satirizing bankers and Reagan-loving bros on Twitter and writing a book about corruption on Wall Street and the pervasive deviance of the 1%, I'm not terribly political.
But considering how spicy this election cycle has been, when I found out a Trump rally was coming to my city, I had to check it out.
Though traditionally Cruz Country, The Woodlands, Texas, (home of ExxonMobil) is a fairly safe space for Trump. Across the street from the rally venue is a Tommy Bahama, Tiffany & Co., Brooks Brothers, and Vineyard Vines, among other aspirational brands stores where middle-class people think rich people shop.

Great article. Great pics!
Thanks for posting this!
How bout that. A media critter discovers that everyday Americans support Trump and were willing to wait up to twelve hours to hear him. Doubt most people would want to wait twelve seconds for Hillary.
Take the time. This little peak into a rally is worth it.
Thanks for posting this article. Good read.
I foresee a string of these articles up to the election.
The writer did a good job. May be I will go to a Trump rally and write a story on it.
I went to Bush rally years ago. OUtside the rally were vile, angry people holding signs with hateful slogans such as “Behead Bush.” The Bush crowd was well-behaved. At one point a few of them stopped to chant “Four more years” in jocular fashion at the protestors.
I read about the rally in the lefie paper the next day, and I couldn’t believe what was written. The Bush crowd was described as angry, confrontational, and the protesters a peaceful bunch.
I emailed the reporter and asked him if we were at the same rally. “Didn’t you see the ‘behead Bush’ signs?”
“Uh, yes I did. I actually mentioned that in my story, but the editor took it out.”
These people are shameless liars.
A most excellent article! Luved the comparison to a Grateful Dead concert, lol. Apparently, Trump rallys are just real Americans gathering together to celebrate the American spirit.
Great pictures and he kept going back to Morton’s for another “Bud”....you can’t get more Americana than that!
Great photos
Sounds and looks rather like the truthful perspective on Tea Party rallies from back when the media was portraying them as angry, racist, gun-toting mobs of white people...
After what happened in San Jose, people would be advised to have some protection at a Trump rally. Even if it is a sock with a roll or two of quarters.
Or a small plastic bag packed tight with sand and stuffed into a sock... Won’t leave much of a mark and hurts like hell.
And it will pass a metal detector.
Doubt most people would want to wait twelve seconds for Hillary.
True! especially when they can just go to their Mother in laws house and get yelled at in the same fashion.
Due to the above, Trump was guaranteed a positive crowd. Also, due to the above statistics, dissenters would have to come from Houston to protest. I don't believe they came from Montgomery County. Montgomery County has the most registered Republicans of any county in Texas. It is a secure conservative county in which to live in Texas.
The terrible storms and flooding that happened in May and June, the worst in recorded Texas history, included Montgomery County that was one of 31 Texas counties declared a disaster county. That area is heavily treed and trees fell in numerous houses in Conroe and The Woodlands and flooding destroyed many houses. I had water on the first floor of my townhouse due to a roof leak and had to go there and get the water out. Now, I have to deal with house insurance and this is a major pain. My $4,000 Pergo floor has to be replaced.
The Woodlands was heavily damaged just as Conroe was. So, that is Montgomery County at this time. I thought you would be interested in the background of Montgomery County and its support of Republicans and Trump. That is Trump territory.
Would be interesting to see what coverage that there was from the ‘real’ (snicker) media on this Trump rally. Willing to bet that the coverage was biased towards the protestors!
Good one! Even watching her on YouTube you get the sense of how painful it must be even for all those paid and bussed in rent-a-mob protestors/supporters to be there in person.
