Studies have shown that just watching cat videos on the internet can boost a person's energy and create positive emotionsso it's no surprise that actual cat ownership has a number of benefits. Here are a few.

Shredded furniture?
Putrid smell?
Leftover mouse niblets?
Dead parakeet?
They keep you humble. They keep you busy. They make you talk “baby talk”. They get hair all over the place. They make you think too much about what they might be thinking.
Cleaning up cat puke. Sifting poop. Unconditional love.
I dunno. I don’t generally consider Toxoplasmosis to be a benefit.
LOL! I was going to post the same list, minus the dead parakeet.
1. OWNING A CAT IS BETTER FOR THE ENVIRONMENT.If you're worried about your carbon footprint, its better to own a cat than a dog. A 2009 study found that the resources needed to feed a dog over the course of its life create the same eco-footprint as that of a Land Cruiser. Meanwhile, catswhich eat less in general and are more likely to eat fish than corn- or beef-flavored productsonly have the approximate carbon footprint of a small hatchback.
Like, say... a Prius?
>>> Petting a cat has a positive calming effect. <<<
One of my current 5 cats absolutely HATES being handled by human. We’ve had her for 8 years, so far she only permits me stroking her fur while she eats her chow.
She doesn’t come out to play, she doesn’t respond to treats, she hides all day (not because other cats dominating her, she could stand her ground). We’ve tried Jackson Galaxy’s tips and tricks, no success.
We think we might be able to finally rub her tummy when she’s 20.
Here, have some boosted energy & positive emotions.
Yer welcome.
That is just the issue. I don’t care one bit about my carbon footprint. I feel disposed to make a big one, however.
LOL, that’s the first thing I noticed and I rolled my eyes.
About the only good thing about having a cat is having your own homicidal maniac around that absolutely loves you although your mileage may vary on that love thing. Living in the country I miss having a cat to keep the mice, chipmunk and just about every other small mammal population in control.
A friend of mine called them flea bags, which wound up getting shortened to bag. So now all cats are called bags. It’s pretty damn funny when you’ve been drinking.
Yeah, I was just posting that as an easy target. The “carbon footprint” one was the least of my worries. Actually, not one at all.
I love cats, but I can never eat a whole one.
Finally, a thread about me on FR! LOL!!
Cats rule.
Well, my cats rule ME.
But I’m a willing participant. Life would be pretty lonely without the furry beasts.
Don’t forget the brain damage from a parasite which something like 80% of cats give their owners.
