DNC Platform Committee Member Says Nobody ‘Should Have A Gun’ [VIDEO]

A member of the Democratic National Committee’s 15-person platform drafting committee said during a public meeting on Wednesday that she does not believe that “anyone should have a gun.”

Bonnie Schaefer, a former retail executive and a progressive philanthropist, said that more should be done to combat gun violence in addition to “just keeping the guns out of the hands of mentally ill people and criminals.”

“I really don’t personally think anyone should have a gun,” she said.

“That’s just my own philosophy. Nothing is ever solved when you have a gun in your hand except the worst possible scenario.”

Well, I expect there is a mother of a clumsy kid in Cinci that is pretty glad someone had a gun handy.

Or you could probably ask any of the several million people who use a firearm defensively (and completely legally) every year in the US to prevent violent assaults, rapes, and murders. I bet they might be glad they had a firearm.

Maybe she should ask some of the 54 million or so people who were disarmed and then killed - by their own governments - in the 20th century. Oh, wait, that's right. It'd be a little hard to ask them since, they're dead. Probably a safe bet though that they wish they and their countrymen hadn't been disarmed. They might still be dead, but at least they'd have had a better chance of not getting slaughtered like cattle.
