Because of my evening schedule during the school year, on Election Day I will probably arrange to stay overnight at the dorm rather than go back to my mixed neighborhood. I will be absolutely terrified of getting off the train.

Traditionally, people of one political party don't physically attack people of another political party. The last time that this happened was in the 1850s when the conflict over slavery caused violence to become part of normal political practice. Back then, it was the abolitionists who were attacked -- and killed -- without local law enforcement providing the least amount of protection. We're seeing this again.

Normally, when one side loses an election, they shut up and accept their loss as the normal order of business. In 1860, the losing side seceded.

I expect there to be cascading violence following the election to prevent Trump from taking office. I expect the Mainstream Media to aid and abet this violence. I expect the low intensity race war that has been going on in this country since 2009 to heat up dramatically. I expect the sentiment that people of such extreme viewpoints can no longer live together in the same country to become commonplace in the Mainstream Media. Finally, I expect secessionist moves to open up in liberal states, with New England leading the way toward annexation into Canada.

In other words, I see nothing but doomsday scenarios in our future.
