First off, no one outside of National Review has ever heard of David French.
Second, if this is true, while Goldberg and Lowry will never admit it publicly, they’ll practically drink the hemlock at this news. It makes their #nevertrump nonsense look even sleazier than it is and that they were/are using their mag as an in-kind contribution to the campaign by one of their own.
I’ve been an NR subscriber for thirty years but I’m done with it when my sub expires this time. They’ve killed the magazine with this nonsense and, honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if it ends up an online only within a year or two.
It was exposed yesterday that Kristol registered the name Renegade Party clear back in early January. Making this whole scheme even sleazier.
I stopped subscribing back in the late 90s, when WFB fired John O’Sullivan as editor for advocating immigration restrictions.
I will never subscribe again to the NR.

If you really wanted to rub it in, you COULD call and cancel and demand a pro-rata refund of your remaining subscription. It would be good for them to explicitly here this from yet another dissatisfied subscriber.
