Some police officers who have spoken to The Daily Beast blame arduous paperwork required for street stopsChicagos version of stop and friskfor this years uptick in gun violence. Fewer street stops mean fewer guns being taken off the street. One officer who spoke on the condition of anonymity blamed this system for the shooting spike, saying his fellow cops want nothing to do with the spiders web of legalities involved every time they stop someone they think might be a shooter... ...Chicago is dead, Simmons said staring blankly at the street, the lights, the cars, the scene. I got a beautiful apartment down the street. I got a good job
Im willing to let all this go. I want out of this city.

Start executing the gang bangers after a speedy trial. and watch what happens to the murder rate.
The reason this activity proliferates, is because there’s little pain and punishment involved with committing it. The only way to stop it is with swift and sure deterrence.
That’s what’s missing.
They aren’t scared for their lives or much of anything else. That is the trouble and we have gone like that since the 70s.
Barry’s, Val’s, and Mooch’s feral youngsters doin their natural thing Huh?
“They arent scared for their lives or much of anything else.”
Why should they be? It’s not like the penal, judicial, or law enforcement systems, are any real threat to their lives or well being.
Until the pain and punishment for committing violent crime is too harsh to bear, the party will continue.
I remember seeing pimpmobiles like that in my younger days. Maybe not as tacky as that one, but they were often pretty goofy looking.
I was telling my wife this morning that it should be announced that every gang member has 24 hours to turn themselves in. They will be moved to an island somewhere. If they don’t turn themselves in, they’ll be shot on sight.
But our constitution prevents this.
The other side is ignoring the Constitution already. A time is coming when we will, too.
If you need to kill someone surprise them with a free weekend in Chicago then whack them there.
I think you’re right. It might have to be ignored until the good guys take back control. Then we have to worry about them ever going back to it.
Cops have to fill out a multipage form for each person they question, the forms are then sent to the ACLU, who then contact the people stopped, with the intent of suing the city/cops for the action. This is why there is no proactive work going on. No one wants to sacrifice their job. This is called staying fetal.
No deterant, when you introduce a quick and fatal deterant you will get thier attention
“A time is coming when we will, too.”
Indeed it will.

Now where have I heard this before? Oh, yeah...
...when you see that men get richer by graft and pull than by work, and your laws dont protect you against them, but protect them against you when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice you may know that your society is doomed. Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged
What it would take to put Chicago back to rights is a little difficult to imagine under the current regimes, both city and federal. We'll be changing the latter in a few months. The former never really does seem to change.
If they had taken people off the streets every time they took a gun off the street, the herd would have thinned out long ago.
“when you introduce a quick and fatal deterant you will get thier attention”
If we had functional law enforcement, judicial, and penal systems, that would do the trick, but we don’t.
Now, ‘frontier justice’ would accomplish the same thing, but you won’t see that unless the whole social compact breaks down.
Let us hope it doesn’t come to that.
