Father Washington was born and raised in my hometown of Kearny, NJ.In St. Stephen’s Church in Kearny is a large plaque dedicated to The Four Chaplins.

Another inspiring story is that of Father Thomas Byles, not military, but went down with the Titanic after refusing an offered seat on a lifeboat twice. Truly a good Shepherd.
