Sure sucks if you want to visit the cradle of civilization. Probably the safest place to go would be Iran.
Same for Egypt, rooms go begging. Spain is next. They’ve got a $150 tourist tax then a fine if you put your sun umbrella in the sand, lay out your towel or whatever and go for a swim. They say you’re hoarding a beach spot.
And you wonder why domestic tourism in the USA is reaching record levels. Americans don’t trust being safe in many foreign countries because American tourists could become targets for a terrorist attack.
We Love Turkey ,we eat it at least once a month
I always enjoyed my trips to the Turkish coast and their people. Only thing I didn’t like was the yuppie Russians.
Europeans, if you want to go to Turkey, but are afraid to, just be patient. Eventually Turkey will come to you.
The only reason I could see going is for what’s left of the old religious sites in Constantinople. Other than that it’s a third world shiite hole.
Never been there but I’ve worked with two people that were born there.

No worries; if they won’t go to Turkey, then the Turks can come to them.
One of the few smart things Obama is doing this year is vacationing in one of the safest foreign countries, Japan. What he’s doing while he’s there is a separate issue.
I would add Ephesus, but in the present political climate it isn't worth it.
Billy Hayes is a friend of mine from Marquette. His nickname was “Crazy.” Always had the best hash!
Ny BIL is Turkish. He and all his friends hate Erdogan with seething passion!
I can fish, swim, boat, sunbathe, bbq and relax 365 in my own back yard so don’t need to be raped by TSA or blown up on the way to any turd world country.
One other great thing about staying in the US and driving is you can pack heat in most states, something you just can’t do legally elswhere.
I thought it was the worst place I ever went to, in my entire USAF career.
Old Southern saying: “Why should I travel? I’m already here!”
Believe that with all my heart, the older I get. Especially the part about gun rights. I’ve seen other parts of the world, mostly in the line of duty. Wanted to kiss the tarmac when the freedom bird brought us back to `the world’ but I would have gotten run over.
Nowadays if I can’t drive somewhere in two days, I don’t go.
