MONTREAL, May 23 (UPI) -- A Quebec man took "drone warfare" to a new low-tech extreme by showing his method for using a quadcopter to snatch another drone out of the sky.
Drone enthusiast David Freiheit, who previously used drones to herd sheep and (unsuccessfully) make tea for his wife, posted a video to YouTube showing his low-tech method for using a drone to capture another drone in mid-flight.
Freiheit explains in the video that he pulled off the "Internet first" by using four strings attached to the skids of the attacking drone.
The attacking drone then flies above its victim, which becomes tangled in the strings.
Freiheit repeats the experiment to show the method has a high rate of success.
Soon we will have drone wars. But this is good, because now we know we can capture Federal Drones using low tech.
Excellent !
That was MY thought, too
your drone
You aren't going to catch the government's drone with a string
And that’s a registered drone. You do stuff that the gubmint doesn’t like with this particular drone, they will find you.
And god knows what comes after that.
Feds are using the small ones here. They aren’t firing rockets at US citizens yet. But are you hoping they do?
12 gauge with 7 1/2 shot will do just fine.
Agreed, nor a shot gun or anything else conventional. A military grade drone will have to be taken out by a military grade counter measure. Joe six pack is pretty much as defenseless as is camel jockey Mohamed.
what in my post inspired you to make that moronic statement?
They will be too far out of range for anything except an anti-aircraft missile. Their missiles have a range of 8km
Spincaster with 20lb line.
I’m guessing your moronic post
I’d sure hate to see one tangle with a commercial airliner.
I was thinking about this also except with a breakaway net.
A carbon-dioxide cannon could shoot them from the sky and the evidence (dry ice) disappears.
It will not be long until a manpad-like seeker can be built into a model rocket.
A sentence fragment here that makes no sense. It is probably a Public School educated literary piece.
LOL, keep whining. You children who live at home are cute
