From the very beginning, this whole "free upgrade" thing has been suspicious as hell. How desperate are they that have to upgrade you behind your back? Like they think I wouldn't notice or wouldn't mind?

I'm not paranoid about Microsoft downloading a bunch of spyware for their Chinese/NSD/Obama masters but maybe I should be.

I turned off all MS updates on my Win7 machine the moment I learned of the nature of Win10 and what they intended.

Spybot Anti-Beacon is a standalone tool which was designed to block and stop the various tracking (telemetry) issues present in Windows 10. It has since been modified to block similar tracking functionality in Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 operating systems.

Anti-Beacon is small, simple to use, and is provided free of charge. It was created to address the privacy concerns of users of Windows 10 who do not wish to have information about their PC usage sent to Microsoft. Simply clicking “Immunize” on the main screen of Anti-Beacon will immediately disable any known tracking features included by Microsoft in the operating system.

It’s not an upgrade. It’s a new operating system. There is no guarantee that the programs you are using will continue to work. MS needs to be sued.

My PC fully installed Windows 10 overnight last night without my knowledge or consent.

I clicked ‘Decline’ on the Terms & Conditions page, and the PC uninstalled Windows 10 and restored Windows 7 Professional to its original state that I require for my business.

I am angered at this overreach by Microsoft.

It is likely that Windows 10 is more NSA friendly. .

The exact same thing happened to me last night.

Went to go get a beer, and the next thing you know the laptop betrayed me.

Windows 10 can create secret partitions on your HDD so you might want to go see if you have any new partitions you didn’t create. No idea what could be hiding in there.

This is just typical tone deaf Microsoft customer relations. A mentally retarded child could take over that department and he’d manage to piss off fewer people than the staff of “executives” that is making these kinds of decisions right now.

Microsoft is turning to a ‘rented’ OS plan: you get what they rent, including the maintenance.
Reminds me of the old Capitol Record Club deal though... you get what they offer, not always what you want.

I have a Surface Pro 2, and I like the Metro browser. This runs with Windows 8. Simple things make the Metro browser nice, like taping on a text box, brings up the on screen keyboard, and it automatically goes away. The new edge browser on the Surface Pro 4, I got my wife won’t do this. I really don’t want the upgrade to Windows 10, because it is going backwards. It seems like every day my SP2 trying to install 10.

Just happened to a friend of mine last night.

Personally I love Windows 10 but my laptop at home is a monster system and can handle it well.

Windows 10 is better.

Just let it happen.

You’re going to have to get it eventually.

Resistance is futile.

I would do a disk defrag wih a tool that lets you view individual cluster and see if you have a lot of unmovable files now ($files). Some are you hibernation and page memory that are normal, but you you have a lot of scattered individual $files, you need to get rid of them so you can use the disk effectively and without slowing your system down. The only way to get rid of them is through cmd line commands.

Windows 10 is literally spyware designed to function like an Operating System. It’s not an OS. It makes 80 connections just as boot to various microsoft servers. I know many of you are oblivious to how computers work, but you need to wrap your head around that fact that your time using Windows is over(if you value any personal data whatsoever). You can’t use it anymore.

There are programs like ‘Destroy Windows 10 Spying’ by nummer(russian cracker), and the like, but they will only work until the next critical security update is needed, and re-establishes your connection with Microsoft, meaning they own you again. This OS is now dead stick, as pilots say. I suggest you look at running something else like Linux Mint or the like. If it’s just a gaming machine, then keep using it for useless information. If it’s anything else/important, I suggest you make plans to migrate elsewhere.

Switch to Linux. It’s easy, free and beats the hell out of any Microsoft OS. I recommend Linux Mint 17.x. It will never download anything you didn’t ask for. And you never have to reboot after installing anything.
