Universities are among the most progressive and anti-racist institutions in American society. Many Americans therefore found it confusing to see dozens of our top universities racked by racial protests since last September. To add to the puzzle, many of the most high-profile actions occurred at universities widely perceived to be the most devoted to social justice and racial equality - schools such as Brown, Yale, Amherst, Wesleyan, and Oberlin. (Every one of these schools earned a red or yellow light from the Intercollegiate Studies Institute, indicating schools that are not recommended for conservative students.) What is going on?

I read Dr. Haidt’s book. He is a great researcher who seems to believe that the evidence he uncovers actually means something. I’m glad to see his contributions on this topic ... heck, on any topic.
And always glad to see you, too, G.!
:-)
He had a great discussion with Sam Harris about safe spaces which is worth listening to, IMO.
I would never have been Undead if it wasn’t for you. That’s important!
Oy, will try. I have a hard time with any media that isn’t text!
:)
Nine children still at home, bud. If it’s radio in the car, okay, but anything I have to watch/listen on the computer or tv, horrors are perpetrated.
Sometimes I forgot how large your brood is.
People do ;-). Bill is 22 and about to graduate from college, so I hope he’ll be out of the house soon. Tom is 19 and starting a Heavy Equipment Mechanics course, so ... year and a half, he’s self supporting.
I had four children in five years, and now they’re all teenagers!
I’m listening to these guys on Youtube while Bill the Son washes up, and the Moslem guy is having a really rough time! “What makes you even consider that stoning should be done? Islam!”
I’m a pretty serious Catholic, but stoning never crosses my mind. People say all sorts of nasty things about the Pope, about Mary, about Mother Teresa, and I say, “Oh, that’s so sad. Being that kind of person is its own punishment.” People commit adultery, and I sympathize with the innocent spouse, and I say to myself, “I hope the person who cheated (both married person and the other participant) gets what’s coming to them.” And that’s it.
Sometimes I remember to pray for their conversion.
Inmates running the asylum.
What’s not to like? Safe place to protest. Get to skip class. You can get the admin to make symbolic changes to impress your peers.
Puhleeeeeze. This is in no manner a prophecy.
An intelligent man wrote of his thoughts and concerns based on co
Mom sense and the human condition. That he was correct is not a surprise
Got into a nice discussion with Bill the Son. He’s taken a lot of liberal arts in the course of his marketing degree, and can discuss history, religion and philosophy with an open mind.
“Universities are among the most progressive and anti-racist institutions...”
Absolutely not true regarding the “anti-racist” aspect. Universities typically punish white students by favoring non-white students via grants and admission. I would say that universities are one of the MOST racist institutions. It is all about the color of one’s skin, believe it or not.
Western civilization's weakest point also provides it's highest value target; Academia and youth.
