My view is Trump’s VP is more like a food taster and goodwill ambassador than a true consigliere. (Think Joe Biden)
So I say go with the most electability. Kasich seems (amazingly) popular in Ohio. Then you carpet bomb Florida and Virginia in Nov and win.

As long as everyone is playing fantasy VP, I submit Newt Gingrich is an ideal VP.

On Rubio and his natural born citizenship, who cares it would be a distraction for the Democrats, they would insult some of their supporters and even if the lawsuit won by then the election would be over and Trump would be president. So you recognize he isn't a natural born citizen. To you it doesn't matter. To me and many others it matters a lot.
Your lawlessness and Constitutional disregard is duly noted.

Rubio was an anchor baby. Neither of his parents were citizen. He is not qualified.
Look at the arguments for Cruz being a NBC a US mother living in Canada and a Cuban father but US citizen through the mother.
Apply that to Rubio = Cuban Citizen since both parents were Cuban even though he was born on American soil

IMHO, wrong on three counts.
1) Ethnic Mexicans do not care about or for ethnic Cubans. There is no “Hispanic” vote; there is only the liberal vote which goes to Democrats 115% of the time (including fraud), and the non-liberal vote which goes to Republicans when they don’t look like they’re pandering.
2) Rubio will not bring FL; Conservtive Cubans here will vote for Trump, all other Hispanics will vote for the Democrat regardless. The vote Trump needs to win FL is the south FL retiree vote, and I think he can get it.
3) Rubio will seem to Trumpers like a slap in the face on the amnesty issue, and will seem to Cruzers like a slap in the face in general, given that Rubio treated Trump far worse than Cruz ever did.
My choice: Duncan Hunter. Assuages conservatives, establishes a good successor, might even bring CA votes.

NO RUBIO...
by the way, Reagan made this mistake in 1980. By him selecting Bush as VP we were stuck with with 30 years of Establishment once Reagan left office. According to Rush, after Bush won the first thing Bush did was get rid of all the Reagan people. NO ESTABLISHMENT and besides Rubio would seal a loss in the rubio’s home state of Florida.

Rubio??? He couldn’t even do well in his home state.

No! Backstabbing liar Rubio would lose Florida for Trump and cause bad blood with conservatives in that state. Choosing Rubio would paint a large target on Trump’s back that open borders crowd might attempt to exploit. Rubio is lazy non worker, while Trump likes high energy, hard workers. Rubio is also not a natural born citizen as required by the Constitution.

First off I don't believe waiting for the convention to announce the choice makes much sense. Way too much work to be done to wait around.
There's LOTS of reason to wait for the convention. Trump has gotten where he is largely because he is able to play out the drama to his benefit. Remember when George W. had Dick Cheney do all the vetting and interviewing, and the VP wound up being Cheney himself? That worked as a big plus for W. in the 2000 cycle, giving him then needed "gravitas", and hard to get positive press.
80% of what goes on between now and the election is the part about getting elected. That's just the way it is. Interestingly, anyone who submits to the vetting process will be handing Trump personal information that could be used against him if needed with the vettee's permission and no need to go to the FBI. The same vetting can also be used for future cabinet picks without showing Trump's hand, so the time isn't going to be wasted. It is clear that Carson WILL have a rile. Cruz likely wants to run his own show four or eight years from now, Christie would be fine with a high level gig, etc. This is a good time for Trump to figure out friends and enemies, and which friends he wants close and which enemies he needs leverage over.
Picking a vice president is going to make someone faction annoyed, better to let some of the healing begin. His selection of a top drawer pro-life adviser was an excellent first step. Pro-lifers are the most suspicious and quickest to jump ship if betrayed.
