There are numerous Class M planets in the galaxy.
Many have attractive females who catch Captain Kirk’s eye.
All of them have humanoid inhabitants. And all of the aliens speak English.

I was kind of hoping they would discover intelligent life
on planet Earth.

"I was kind of hoping they would discover intelligent life on planet Earth."It's certainly more convenient to look for intelligent life here, but we all know it doesn't exist here.

Hallelujah!
Hey! I got an idea. Let's throw hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars at this to make sure.

For some, the discovery of life elsewhere would be the culmination of centuries worth of work to deny the existence of God. However, it is as relevant as the existence of life at the bottom of an ocean or in Antarctica.
Either you accept the arguments of believers that all was created by God or you don’t. Life elsewhere has to be absolutely assumed.

I call dibs on the Orian green skin dancing girls, and any planets where the females need me to help them repopulate.

Washington Compost BS.
The planets are so close to their sun they are gravitationally locked, with one side constantly facing their sun. They likely have no moon, so no tides (even if they were to have a liquid ocean). In addition to "sunlight" the planets' atmosphere (if they actually have one) would be blasted from their sun's high-energy plasma bursts. And note the subtle use of "only" in this MIT News excerpt:
"The two innermost planets orbit the star in 1.5 and 2.4 days, though they receive only four and two times the amount of radiation, respectively, as the Earth receives from the sun. The third planet may orbit the star in anywhere from four to 73 days, and may receive even less radiation than Earth. Given their size and proximity to their ultracool star, all three planets may have regions with temperatures well below 400 kelvins, within a range that is suitable for sustaining liquid water and life."

For some, the discovery of life elsewhere would be the culmination of centuries worth of work to deny the existence of God.It would be a hoot if they were religious, and even had an Alien Jesus.
Of course, Alien Jesus would never hire H1-B's. That is the way of Alien Satan.

It seems as though these small stars make it easier to detect atmospheres and depending on the makeup of those atmospheres, you can determine the probability of life.

When I was in high school we were shown an early TV show with a title something like "The Flying Disk Man from Mars." The alien was remarkably human-like and spoke good English. He explained that they had learned English by listening to radio broadcasts.
It might work for a planet many light-years away, but the radio waves don't travel faster than light, so it could be a long time before our radio broadcasts reach them...and how are they going to know to screen out the foreign-language programs and listen to the English-language ones only?
To: Lazamataz
I hate alien buddy Jesus... All he wants to do is drink purple drink all day long. Wish he’d just go back to his planet and take Mitt Romney with him this time.

All you have to do is look for anyone not voting for Hillary, Sanders or Trump.
