Did anyone ever notice that every time Jim Rockford kissed a woman on his show, that she was dead before the hour was up?

Yes, an amazing coincidence considering the fate of his second wife.

Of course on the show usually it wasn’t Kirk that killed them.

I guess gonorrhea was really virulent in the future, especially with non-earth girls.

I think most if not all the love interests on Bonanza ended up dead, too.

And if the Harts invited someone to dinner, they didn’t live long enough to get dessert.

In the “Farnsworth Stratagem”, the blond lady made it to the end of the episode.

It’s one of my favorites. Rockford was a really good series.

Jim Rockford was an adaptation of Raymond Chandler’s hard boiled detective, revised for TV and set in contemporary California. Virtually by definition, the hard boiled detective type must live alone without the distraction of romantic attachments. Otherwise, a large part of the show becomes about the couple relationship instead of the crime story.

Those Cartwright boys had similar luck with women.

And if you hired Perry Mason for any legal work, you or someone around would be murdered within 24 hours.
