I do not believe that Cruz is trying to break the power of the media.

Maybe the media is actually holding back on Trump until he is the nominee? If he wins the general election in the fall, I might concede your point. But until then.....

No one knows what conservative means any more.
*******************************************

Cruz supporters know exactly what it means, and maybe that’s the big difference between the two sides.

In all fairness I am not certain about Mr. Trump delivering on anything. What I am certain of is that it is time for drastic measures. Not the status quo. Therefore I am absolutely ready to gamble on Donald doing some of what he advocates. If he just gets the wall built I'd be all in for including his bust carved into Rushmore.

I can't vote for someone that offers no hope of change. Also not voting for someone that will surely be vilified by the media and not be willing to fight back, thereby ensuring Hillary sits in the Oval Office. I appreciate the talk. Exercise your vote today in good conscience FRiend. Thanks.

In the primaries, vote for your choice, and thank you for your vote for Trump in November.

Cruz’s positions on immigration are inline with my own.

How Cruz be a GOPe insider, as you stated, and also be a pariah in his own party?

I don’t consider Cruz just another Harvard lawyer. ““Off the charts brilliant,” is what legendary liberal Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz said of his former student in an interview with the Philadelphia Inquirer a year ago. One of the sharpest students I had . . . I’ve had 10,000 students over my 50 years at Harvard . . . he has to qualify among the brightest of the students.””

It is a paradox isn’t it? Should conservatives surrender civil service to the liberals because we believe in smaller government? For the most part we have already given up on the education system. Cruz’s service as solicitor general is a testament to his conservative values and what he actually believes. His rapid ascent to Senator was because he didn’t play by the GOPe rules and wait his turn. He is a pariah to the DC Republicans because he was uncompromising in his beliefs. I do not see that as a negative.

In the end, I know my vote doesn’t matter in Maryland, but I have to vote my conscience.

Right on. In the end I think we want many of the same things. It is the road to getting there that many Freepers might disagree on. As long as Hillary is not president, I will be content.

A vote cast for Cruz or Kascish is a vote for Hillary Clinton

Cruz’s positions on immigration are inline with my own.

I can understand that since you are a libertarian. Bad for American workers, The free flow of labor is taking jobs from Americans and depressing wages. We have a surplus of labor. We don't need 1.1 million legal permanent immigrants a year and 640,000 guest workers annually. We have the lowest labor participation rates in 38 years. We have just had the two largest decades of legal immigration in our history.

How Cruz be a GOPe insider, as you stated, and also be a pariah in his own party?

I thought I made that abundantly clear. He is GOPe, but he doesn't want to wait his turn to run for the WH. He wants it now. He is not a team player. Nonetheless, Cruz and his wife are Bushbots. Why do you think Neil Bush is part of his campaign team?

I don’t consider Cruz just another Harvard lawyer. ““Off the charts brilliant,” is what legendary liberal Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz said of his former student in an interview with the Philadelphia Inquirer a year ago. One of the sharpest students I had . . . I’ve had 10,000 students over my 50 years at Harvard . . . he has to qualify among the brightest of the students.””

LOL. Can he run anything of consequence? Academics don't make good leaders or executives. Hillary and Bill have impressive academic credentials. Tribe thought Obama was smarter than Cruz. Who the f*ck cares how they did in college?

It is a paradox isn’t it? Should conservatives surrender civil service to the liberals because we believe in smaller government? For the most part we have already given up on the education system. Cruz’s service as solicitor general is a testament to his conservative values and what he actually believes. His rapid ascent to Senator was because he didn’t play by the GOPe rules and wait his turn. He is a pariah to the DC Republicans because he was uncompromising in his beliefs. I do not see that as a negative.

Cruz accomplished absolutely nada/zilch as a senator. Was he uncompromising or grandstanding? IMO he was doing the latter. If he is such an intellect, why couldn't he persuade his collegues to adopt his positions? Why did it take so long to have even one senator endorse him--Mike Lee? Cruz is not liked by his colleagues. Rubio called him a liar. On immigration, I agree with Rubio. I have been working on the immigration issue for over nine years lobbying on the Hill for a grassroots immigration group. Cruz lied when he said he never supported amnesty, i.e., legalization. He just didn't support a path to citizenship, which is irrelevant. Allowing the lawbreakers to stay and work here is amnesty period.

In the end, I know my vote doesn’t matter in Maryland, but I have to vote my conscience.

So be it. I voted mine as well. Trump is the only one that can break up the Washington Cartel--the Cruz-Kasich Anschluss notwithstanding.

I’ll be voting for the candidate who understands the benefits of limited government and liberty. Trump doesn’t.

Well give us the definition so we will know how we and Trump are not conservatives...
*********************************************

The #1 basic definition would be limited government.
You never hear those words out of Trumps mouth. It is all about more control and bigger government. We don't need another king, regardless whether you agree with some of the things he is saying. I want to get back to the fundamentals of this country, not just change emperors.

Yes, our government is overrun with liberals on both sides. However, that doesn't change the the defining principles of conservationism just because we have RINO’s that don't follow this basic belief.

We know what Cruz's version of limited gov't is because he told us...

Knock American citizens off of welfare and Medicaid...
Refuse emergency healthcare and any other government financed aid to homeless veterans and anyone who can't pay for it themselves...
Knock people off Social Security and Medicare...He voted along with the others to steal another 150 billion from the so called SS fund...
Get rid of disability benefits to the disabled...

If that's being conservative I don't want to be one...

Don’t worry, you’re not. Those are the same talking points democrats have been using for the last 40 years.

Thank you all for your replies.

For an after vote report: no lines. Not surprising given the total apathy in the city. Then people complain about this and that and wonder why nothing gets done. Whatever. I suspect the turnout will be greater for the general of course that will be the result of all the hype more than actual desire to be involved.

So something interesting: when I checked in, so to speak, I was given a paper ballot to fill out. No more touch screen voting it seems. Which is good given the controversy last time. But it was scanned in and I didn’t get any printed receipt confirming my choices. Whatever on that too, if someone or some group is so duplicitous as to rig elections well, what can you do.

An interesting side note: I was originally given a Democrat ballot to fill out, but no controversy when I pointed out this error. I guess it was habit more than anything. There was a whole stack of republican ballots but few democrat ones left. Of course. It’s Baltimore City.

Anyway, filled it out with the following choices:

Cruz
Sean Connor for Senate
Corrogan Vaughn for Rep (Dist 7)
And then some additional delegates to vote for but unlike PA, the MD GOP actually tells you who they support. So it was easy to vote for the Cruz delegates.

So all in all, a good experience. I took my wife along but she can’t vote yet as she’s not a citizen yet. She’s in the process of becoming one though hopefully she will become one before Nov (well actually October, which is when the cutoff is for registering to vote here I believe).

Time to turn on Fox and watch the Trump machine roll in the votes. I have no delusions. But I’m glad I could vote my conscience and actually for someone still in the race. MD is so late our votes here really don’t matter.

Early congrats to all you Trump supporters. I think he may gain enough tonight to make the CA race his finish line. So, all of this stuff about a contested convention really isn’t going to matter. If (when) he gets to 1237 before the convention, he’s my guy then. So relax and enjoy all you Trumpers. He’s really probably got this in the bag already.

God bless FR and God Bless the USA!
