The overdose reversing Naloxone is now in all Cabell County schools. The Huntington Office of Drug Control Policy asked the school system if they wanted the Naloxone for free. The Cabell County Huntington Health Department then trained the school nurses.
Robin Yearout has been a school nurse for more than 25 years and is used to the things school nurses usually deal with.
"Upper respiratory issues going on, allergies, seasonal allergies," she listed.
When she first became a school nurse administering something like Naloxone was not something on her mind.

Yet the schools can’t give them an aspirin
One girl was suspended for give a seatmate on the school bus her inhalator when she was having an asthmatic attack and couldn’t get to her own. Girl was charge with give drugs to another. I hate liberalism esp. in schools. http://boingboing.net/2016/01/15/12-year-old-girl-suspended-bec.html
What on Earth is Naloxone?
Naloxone, sold under the brand name Narcan among others, is a medication used to block the effects of opioids, especially in overdose.
Another reason to hate liberal schools: Student gets punched in the head a dozen times by a bully and is sidelined from sports due to concussion protocol. He’s also suspended from school for trying to push the bully away. Zero tolerance. http://www.fox46charlotte.com/news/local-news/127796187-story?utm_source=fark&utm_medium=website&utm_content=link
The left rushes to support idiots who are taking dangerous drugs and destroying their health, but $h!ts upon normal people.
It’s an opioid antagonist given for overdoses on morphine and heroin. The brand name is “Narcan.” Ten years ago it cost $1.00 per does. Today, because so many are trained to administer naloxone, its manufacturer is gouging consumers by charging over $40.00 per dose. The same happened with epinephrine auto-injectors (EpiPen) which used to cost $20.00, but now costs $635.00 at Walgreens.
So FIRST you give away FREE NEEDLES for Drug Addicts,
Cabell-Huntington Health Department, said the program will center on a syringe exchange that will allow addicts to trade in dirty syringes for clean ones at the Health Department. More than 200 cities have implemented syringe exchanges across the country. The results overwhelmingly show that the program drastically reduces the rates of communicable diseases such as hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV.
Now you Spend Even more Money so Nurses can TREAT THE OVERDOSES, after you GAVE them FREE NEEDLES.
Hell of a Racket.
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
Or they require a doctor’s note for OTC medications.
Absolutely ridiculous.
The heroin epidemic is this country is a complex problem that is multi-faceted & will therefore take a multi-tiered approach in order to fix it, but shutting the damn border with Mexico & stop the free flow of narcotics into the US is a hell of a good way to start. I’m so tired of the establishment on both sides of the aisle ignoring the massive border insecurity that is a direct cause of Americans dying addicted.
As a side note, one of the local 4H clubs here in suburban Pittsburgh is holding a seminar on how to administer Narcan and it will be available OTC. The problem is THAT bad.
Thanks. It’s a strange world to this Old Man.
Meh - calling yourself an OM ...the question would be: how old would you be if you didn’t know how old you were?
