An ostrich at a circus in Munich was hit by a car and died shortly after animal rights activists opened its cage.

It was around 9pm on Monday evening when as yet unknown people snuck onto the land that Kaiser Circus - along with its 80 animals - was encamped on..

Finding a trailer where the ostriches Nala and Zawo were held along with a goose called Fred, the culprits managed to unscrew the hinges and open the door.

The animals then escaped and ran out into the night, according to local police.

Running afowl of the law again.

“Dang. Dinner, anyone?”

Not as good as the seal on the west coast, I believe Vancouver, that was rehabilitated and within seconds of being released into the wild was eaten by a killer whale.

Many years ago while working for GE in the Bay Area (this is back in the mid 1980s) a bunch of PETA activists raided a large Chicken raiser and released something like 10,000 of his chickens from his coops.

The man was only able to save about 2,500 of them as the rest were hit by cars and killed by cats, dogs, and coyotes and such.

Unbelievable foolish and damaging people.

I first misread the title as "Estrich", which in itself has a grain of truth.

“... killer whale.”

They are, in fact, dolphins.

I was out on a boat fishing for salmon with a friend in the Gastineau Channel (think Juneau) when I reached over the transom of the boat to help bring a salmon my buddy had on the line. This was mid 1980’s...

I was reaching down with my right hand to grab the line ‘SNAP’ went the jaws of an Orca just 24 inches or so from my hand.

The salmon was gone, I immediately popped upright like Roy Scheider in ‘Jaws’ when he says: ‘We’re gonna need a bigger boat.’

A shark would have taken my hand...

“A shark would have taken my hand.”

And he would have shaken it and thanked you for the meal.

Not like those ill-mannered Killer Whales.

Do they ever say thanks?

No.

Ostriches are native to tropical Africa. By releasing them in Germany, with its west coast marine climate, those “animal rights” activists would probably have condemned the birds to death through cold, starvation or disease.

Susan Estrich, “the mouth that ate CNN” according to Rush.

On once a week, that’s all anyone can stand of that crazy-aunt who sounds like a bad Carol Channing impersonation.

Known as Susan Estrogen to Dukakis campaign workers (she was chairman...or was it chairthing?).

Yes, killer whales, in the wild at least, very rarely attack humans, and when they do, it seems to usually be a case of “mistaken identity”, thinking we are porpoises or whatnot.

One summer in the 60s I worked on a small albacore boat out of San Pedro. When the captain saw killer whales, he ordered us into the cabin. He had heard of people being snatched from decks. I tend to believe his opinion over those who think killer whales are friendly and cuddly.

My wife and I took a vacation to Victoria, British Columbia several years ago. We visited Sealand of the Pacific one morning.

My wife must have been shopping, but I went to the Killer Whale pool by myself. I started to walk around the pool. I was the only one there. You could walk right around the pool. They had a three foot tall plastic fence around the pool.

I was walking along when I got the feeling that something was watching me. I looked over my shoulder and saw that a Killer Whale was trailing me. There was a volleyball hung very high over the pool. I realized that if that Killer Whale could jump that high to touch the volleyball, he could also jump high enough to get over that three foot plastic fence and have me for breakfast.

I had to walk by him to to get out.

“Nice Killer Whale. Who’s a good boy? You are!”

I didn’t go back up there.

I saw a news story this week about the Killer Whale in Orlando that has killed some people. He’s “lethargic”.

That’s right. Turns out it was the big boy trailing me around the pool.

I would never get in the water anywhere near a Killer Whale. Those babies are huge.

It’s better to be alive than dolphin food.

My experience, while not making me terrified of Orcas, did scare the sh!t out of me!

It was a BIG Muther!
