Mizzou closes two dorms due to lack of students

Following a drop in students applying for housing, the University of Missouri will not be placing students in two dorms for the fall 2016 semester.

Mizzou will be closing the Respect and Excellence halls (ironic names, given the circumstances) in order to utilize dorm space "in the most efficient manner" to keep costs down.

In March, the university announced that it saw a sharp drop in admissions for the coming school year, and will have 1,500 fewer students. This will lead to a $32 million budget shortfall for the school, prompting the need to close the dorms in order to save money.

"Dear university community," wrote interim chancellor Hank Foley in an email to the school back in March. "I am writing to you today to confirm that we project a very significant budget shortfall due to an unexpected sharp decline in first-year enrollments and student retention this coming fall. I wish I had better news."

Sharp decline because maybe the University valued pandering to hysterical minorities over providing something real to the citizens? A good solid education that will get jobs?

One of the cost-cutting measures is reducing custodial personnel, so the professors will have to empty their own trash into the dumpsters. Great idea. It may teach these big fish in their little pond some humility. Quite a step down from Olympus.

Campus buildings are staffed and serviced by dozens of blue collar workers.

As usual, the leftists have trampled the finances of those they claim to represent.

The revolt against the tyranny of the Psychological Warfare program, otherwise known as Political Correctness, is long overdue. Perhaps this, and the Trump campaign is the beginning of that revolt.

I think people just had to learn it could be done in order to it. Now they’ve learned, so I think it will intensify.

It would be interesting to see the percentage of unpaid student loans, graduation rates and actual employable students from this ‘inmates running the asylum ‘ institution.

Now they have a ‘safe zone’. Free from the patriarchal oppression of the white male, too bad there is not any power or other amenities.

When the insane controls the place, the sane choose to be elsewhere. Eliminate useless programs... easy to identify them... all those that end in (fill in the blank) “studies”.

That was my daughter’s first choice. I’m so glad she didn’t go there. Beautiful campus.
Second choice Louisville, KY, Again beautiful campus...outer area not so nice.
She finally settled on in state, UW-Milwaukee, since she had won several scholarships that required in state.

Well she hated it. Would call to vent. Health professor talking politics. Math - Politics. English - Politics. That was all that was ever discussed....and it wasn’t her politics. A month later she moved off campus to live with her brother. End of the year she vowed never to go back. Has been doing online and loves it. In addition to full time student with excellent grades, she is able to also work full time.

Sad that our universities have become such cesspools.

You’re right. Who in their right mind would try to learn something valuable when everything taught has to be spoon fed to idiots worried about ‘safe spaces’.

Geez. Does this mean some professors might have to teach TWO whole courses this year?
