PULASKI TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A woman was arrested Tuesday after she assaulted an 85-year-old man in a parking lot and stole his winning lottery ticket, according to police.

The incident was reported shortly after 10:30 a.m. at the Ambrosia Landscaping supply and lottery store in Pulaski Township.

"I saw it all," said Lori Smiley, who saw the incident from the Family Dollar store.

Police said Adriana Pitzer, 23, threw the man to the ground and stole his scratch-off lottery ticket, which was worth $30. She also took $10 in cash.

Smiley, a cashier at the nearby Family Dollar store saw what happened and ran across the street to help the man before chasing Pitzer to King’s Motel, where she lost her, police said.

"I ran after her," Smiley said. "I mean, it could've been my father, my grandfather, It could've been your father, he was there lying the ground. I knew she was going to get caught," Smiley said.

Smiley was a key contributor in helping police identify Pitzer.

Police arrested Pitzer a short time later at the motel, where she was staying with her mother, who was also arrested on a criminal trespass warrant.

Pitzer is charged with robbery, simple assault and theft by unlawful taking. Her bond was set at $25,000 and she was taken to the New Castle Police Department for fingerprinting, but ran when her handcuffs were taken off, police said.

A lot of this running is due to the knowledge they will go through withdrawal in jail.

When I was doing EMS, prisoners would recite a litany of drugs they were taking. Of course, they lost the prescription script for them but they really needed them.

Drugs are a victimless crime. [/s]

But actual crimes, like strong arm robbery, aren't. The excuse doesn't matter...

Combining the technological functions of an ankle monitor and a taser might be helpful. (Not as explosive as the neck collars of the "Deadlocked: Escape from Zone 14" movie).

Not a word on how the 85 year old guy is doing. Bones are fragile at this age and knocking them to the ground could easily result in a broken bone or far worse. They need to tack on an extra fine and jail time for targeting the elderly.

No kidding, my 75yo great uncle was mugged died. He was a silver star awardee at the Bulge in WWII.

Never caught the vermin either. God to have been there with my Mossberg 12 pump. Of course I’d be doing 50 to beyond life.

I’ll have a good Dobermann or Shepherd with me everywhere when I get older.A well trained dog discourages attacks like this. And I’ll still be carrying.

Drugs are a political crime.

And your taxes pay for hundreds of billions per year in jailing these political prisoners.

Maybe not...if I was on the jury you'd get not guilty, a medal, and a large monetary reward for getting rid of vermin. Wouldn't bring your uncle back, but would help clean the streets.

I think PA is where the Buddhist Monk was robbed while buying lottery tickets. The monk chased the culprit into the parking lot.

Quite right! Just had an elderly friend buried this week who was doing well managing a chronic illness for years -- until he fell. Then he died within a couple of weeks. Some states do have an added penalty for attacking an elderly person.
