Likewise Reagan was no Reagan. By the time Reagan left office, he had:

1) Drastically increased Social Security taxes
2) Substantially increased Income taxes
3) Signed into the law this country’s first AMNESTY bill
4) Was in the process of tearing down the military he had worked so hard to build up in his first few years.
5) Shoved Bush-Sr. into the White House

After that, he went on to support the Brady Bill.

Straw man argument. Nobody is claiming that Trump is the "next Reagan" but Trump opponents love to claim that people are so they can use the Lloyd Bentsen line.

Actually there can be no other "Donald Trump" either. Both men are unique and can never be duplicated!

Reagan had class. He always was classy.

Trump talks and behaves like a low-life slime-ball.

The contrast is like day and night.

“Here lies both the irony and farce of the cult-like effort to anoint Trump as the second coming of Reagan”

Um, I seem to read more Cruz people try to make Cruz into Reagan. That includes Limbaugh, Beck, Levin, and many posters on this site.

At least one thing Trump has on Cruz, he actually met the man in person at the White House, while Ted was hitting the weed listening to Culture Club.

Trump doesn't have the finesse that Reagan had, when he told someone to stick it.

He's honest, though. I'll take it.

Goldberg meets his deadline with another “Look at me! Blah blah Trump! But look at me!” trying to be relevant. He’d do better writing about the Easter Bunny’s role in politics. But he’s not smart enough.

And Cruz isn’t either. Reagan could connect with the people, hence his nickname “The Great Communicator”. Cruz is preachy, condescending and easily slips into lawyer mode. He wooden mannerisms give Al Gore a run for the money. And he never led anything, less operate anything bigger than a lemonade stand.

Trump is obviously not Reagan, but the Trump victory plan IS quite like Reagan 1980/84, and Nixon 1972 as well.

There have been four elections since FDR where the President has won overwhelmingly - 1964, 1972. 1980 and 1984.

Leave out 1964 for the moment. The other three - 520 EV, 489 EV, 525 EV - were all won by Republicans whose brand of American nationalism won over white Democrats.

Whoever said Trump was Reagan?

Trump is unique in his own way. We're not looking for another "Reagan." We're looking for someone with their own personality and identity that will restore America to greatness.
