Bizarre Time Travel Scenario
Self | March 23, 2016 | PJ-Comix

Posted on 03/23/2016 3:03:54 PM PDT by PJ-Comix

This morning I had a vision of an incredible bizarre Time Travel scenario. This is how it goes:

A guy (his name is unimportant but you could call him Doc Brown if you want) invents a Time Machine (again the shape is unimportant but if you want, it could look like a DeLorean) on March 23, 2015. It can time travel to the future but can remain there for only less than a minute before returning to March 23, 2015 again.

The Time Traveler decides to travel exactly one year into the future to March 23, 2016 and then report to the world what he has discovered when he returns. To do this, he brings an iPad with him to quickly find out what is happening in the news.

Okay, the guy time travels to today, checks out his iPad for news, and registers incredible shock before returning back to March 23, 2015 less than a minute later. He tumbles out of the time machine, still in a state of shock, and unfortunately it blows up when he exits.

However, rather that mourn the loss of the time machine, the time traveler rushes to the town square with his shocking news. He yells out to everybody that he has time traveled to a year in the future and he has SHOCKING news to relay.

A skeptical but curious crowd gathers in the town square as the time traveler describes his destroyed time machine. He lectures a bit about flux capacitors and other stuff relating to the physics of time travel. Those in the crowd with some knowledge of science are impressed but still skeptical.

Finally, someone in the town square crowd yells out, "So tell us what shocking news you discovered from a year from now!"

"Jeb Bush has endorsed Ted Cruz for the GOP nomination!"

The crowd bursts out laughing. One of them says, "You sure had us going with your in-depth knowledge of physics but that tall tale means you never traveled to the future."

"But it's true! I swear it is! I saw the news on my iPad!" replied the time traveler.

Again the crowd laughed and one of them says, "Yeah, and next you'll be telling us Mitt Romney also endorsed Cruz!"

The crowd falls back to laughing again as the time traveler realizes there is no way for the crowd to find out he is telling the truth except to wait a year.

On a slightly off note, there will never EVER EVER EVER be time travel (at least backwards), since we have no time travelers ever seen in history to date.

If there was time travel, there would be proof of time travelers.

No matter how far in the future you go, until the time of the Morlocks, there won’t be time travel.

Other shocking news to people in March 2015 is that a long time Democrat supporter is the leading candidate for the Republican nomination. Of course this would also explain why Bush and Romney are desperate enough to endorse Cruz.

MARCH 23, 2017

"Congress, backed by the United Labor Alliance, has declared Barack Obama President-for-Life. Spontaneous demonstrations of joy broke out all over America.

"The inability of the House of Representatives to break the deadlock in the Electoral College from last fall's five-way election prompted Congress and the President to agree to a new paradigm for governance. United Nations troops stand at the ready to enforce this decision in the face of resistance from supporters of the old Constitution, which was annulled last night at midnight. US armed forces have been confined to barracks and ordered to stack arms. The rumors of mutinies in the military are just that -- rumors. No patriotic American can believe otherwise.

"We the Mainstream Media stand united in support of Dear Leader Obama -- peace be upon him -- and our national government. Long live the Revolution!"

A really good time travel movie is “Predestination”
it gets convoluted.

That’s the one based on the Heinlein “All You Zombies” short story, while managing to level up the story by adding another wrap around layer to it, I believe.
It was very good.

“If there was time travel, there would be proof of time travelers.”

I do not follow your logic? Why would there be proof of time travelers?

I do not see the necessity of that at all.

What proof of time travel would you accept?

Heinlein is usually good. Has there ever been a movie of The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress? That ought to be on the Patriots' Reading List, along with 1984, Brave New World, Animal Farm, Atlas Shrugged, The Giver, and others I'm sure I've forgotten.

Time Traveler's Log:

I successfully traveled to exactly one year in the future. However, I am located exactly where Earth was when I started out.

I am probably millions, or even billions, of miles away from where Earth is now.

It is very empty here and I am running out of oxygen...

Im more interested in what happens in March 2018 after a whole year of having Trump as Potus, did he build the wall, has Hillary been prosecuted, if he hasn’t has all the blind trump supporters been publicly shamed yet?

Only God could handle a conundrum of this kind. His implementation has to be conflict-free. It can reflect unrealized intentions but it can’t literally enable contradictory things to happen.

I’d be more watchful for the work of God, angels, and demons, than any hypothetical time travelers.

Quite an interesting point. With the time travel, one needs space travel too or else even the exercise is in vain.

What if time travellers can only go back to the point when time travel was invented/discovered?

That's like the scene from the movie when Marty tells 1955 Doc Brown that Ronald Reagan is President.

I’m not totally comfortable with all the establishment endorsements of Cruz, but I am not sure why anyone is surprised about about them either. In the run-up to the 1980 election, George HW Bush and Ronald Reagan had some very nasty fights. Anyone remember Bush’s speech when he called Reaganomics “Jonestown Economics”?

The establishment is not going to go away regardless of who wins. They may hate Cruz, but they respect his intelligence and feel they can deal with him. Trump is simply too erratic in their view. A loose cannon that can’t be predicted.
