Trump had already previously named U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) as the chairman of his national security team, but on Monday, for the first time ever, he provided the Washington Post with a list of advisers that comprise the team. Trumps rivals and critics have argued repeatedly that his refusal, until now, to name his advisers meant he was not to be trusted with a presidents most important responsibility: Keeping the country safe.
But Trumps list of national security advisers, preliminarily released in the Post interview with more on the way, comes on a day he has held meetings with Sessions, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR), former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, and other Republican lawmakers.
Walid Phares, who you probably know. Ph.D., adviser to the House of Representatives. Hes a counter-terrorism expert, Trump said in the Post interview, according to reporters Robert Costa and Philip Rucker. Carter Page, Ph.D. George Papadopoulos. Hes an oil and energy consultant. Excellent guy. The honorable Joe Schmitz, [was] inspector general at the Department of Defense. General Keith Kellogg. And I have quite a few more. But thats a group of some of the people that we are dealing with. We have many other people in different aspects of what we do. But thats a pretty representative group.
Rucker and Costa noted the interview went for about an hour in the Washington Posts new offices downtown in Washington, D.C., and Trump began the meeting by pulling out a list of some of his foreign policy advisers.

Shhhhhhh
Regardless of social issues, Newt is brilliant when it comes to national security issues. I hope he joins the national security team.
I met Newt while I was on active duty, briefed him when working in a DoD joint organization that remains classified, and he was well informed, asked insightful questions, offered keen insights. . .good man for that team.
Newt already acting as Chief of Staff?
Trump & the establishment.
I know Newt.... my guess is not COS but VP...
Watch heads in DC explode over that one....
Jeff Sessions is certainly not the establishment and as Chairman you can bet your last buck Sessions is mostly responsible for the team.
That coming to pass would be outstanding. Newt has been seen in the corner of Trump Towers standing with the man. One can only hope. LOL and do believe Newt is a NBC as well ::-))
One can hope :-)
I wanted to see Newt become President because he was way ahead of the Washington crowd on realizing the Islamic threat to this country.
Also Andrea Tantaros of Fox was also an early voice against Islamic intentions.
She doesn't have much to say about it now since Fox doesn't seem to want to talk about it, but Tantaros knows about the Islamic threat. -Tom
:-)) Said behind the hand: extremely tired of being the brunt of the joke. Twice in 10 years is a bit much.
Newt was on O’Reilly this evening, on now actually, I wanted to listen again.
I agree with whoever, Newt is pretty good at security issues and has some good viewpoints.
O’Reilly also had an interesting comment, I can’t do a direct quote, but [same as I’ve thought all along] he seems to think they saw a completely different Trump than what we see in campaign rallies. He’s probably already trying to get people to interact and communicate, and also listening.
Meetings like this is where he’s going to show his stuff. Newt didn’t let anything out, but had a pretty positive take on the meeting.
I don’t know much about this list of people, that’ll take a little poking around. I do know he’s also been talking to Rudy Giuliani a lot too, as Giuliani put it he’s an unofficial adviser. I’m betting he figures into it somewhere too but not in national security.
I’m also betting this list didn’t materialize in the past 2 weeks, he’s been working on it for at least the past couple of months. I’m also betting somewhere in a highly secure area of Trump Tower he might just have a written out plan...that was already there the day he announced he was running. Just like I’m betting he does before taking a single step on a 60 story building. You don’t make his kind of money doing things on the fly...
