The way the MO congr. districts are breaking out, Trump could clean house, despite being in a tight race. He could get something like 47 delegates to 5 for Cruz. Astounding.

Despite the OH loss to Kasich, and the two close races with Cruz in Missouri and NC, this was a huge night for Trump.

I show him winning 207 delegates on the night. Cruz will pick up about 80, and Kasich about 74.

At this stage, Trump has over a 200 delegate lead. With all the winner take all states coming up, I expect he is going to get to the magic number before the convention...but it may take him until June 7th now.

IMHO, Cruz has no path to an out right win now. The best he could do would be to win enough to deny the total math to Trump, and at this stage I feel that is a very outside chance in any case.

The absolute best Cruz should do now for the GOP and for the country would be to throw in with Trump as his VP.

At this stage, that would be my suggestion.

Sometime in April, make the deal for a Trump/Cruz ticket.

That would result in an absolute slam dunk against the GOPe, a slam dunk in numbers of delegates going into the convention, allow Trump to be in charge of the party rules, and unite the party for the general election against Hillary.

For some reason I am still getting results from the 14th when I click on the results link on tonight’s caucus. I hit the refresh button, but that did not help.

I noticed what you did, but I just reloaded the page, and it's changed. As the text there says, "Updates will be made tonight and tomorrow morning" (for instance, delegate counts).

OK, I am now seeing the note about the delegates but the latest numbers for the Free Republic Caucus do not appear to have been updated from the day before.

The new numbers are there now; check the dates in the columns. (Earlier tonight, this page still had the charts from yesterday.)

I had some problems earlier, but you should be able to see the results now, with the 03/15 information on it.

Thanks so much! I have the new numbers now! I am curious what the reaction will be in tomorrows numbers after a very good night for Trump and basically a disaster for Cruz.

Yes, it should be interesting.

I’ve seen some movement over the last five days, but the voters who are voting now are in some instances folks who don’t really participate much on the forum.

You can look at this “on forum” contributions and go back months and in some instances years rather quickly.

So I don’t think some of these folks are really engaged in the issues. It’s more of a dedication that goes beyond being a FReeper and discussing issues to a resolution.

I don’t know what to make of it all.

I had a problem tonight.

Not sure what brought it about, but I put a flawed set of figures on the site, and then couldn’t get their replacement to refresh.

It was there, I just couldn’t get my browser to see the replacement data.

I try not to post in error and then have to replace.

Tonight I blew it.

Tomorrow should be back to normal.

Take care.

Ted Cruz has a lot to recommend him in this contest and I respect his supporters even though I’ve not always admired some of Cruz’s actions such as the Ben Carson dirty trick and blaming Trump for the riots. Still, I could support Cruz for VP in the interest of pulling in votes. Party unity and reconciliation.

Party unity and reconciliation.

I'd put that in Unicorns, skittles, and rainbows file.

Reconciliation's Dead Jim.

From one network's exit polls from last night's states:

According to ABC News, 37 percent of Republican voters said they would seriously consider a third party candidate if Trump and Clinton are the nominees.

Now I don't know how actually close to true this number, but I do see this trend:

2008- John McCain (not conservative)
2012 Mitt Romney (not conservative)
2016 Donald Trump (not conservative)

This stubborn extreme conservative ideologue is not going to be thrice slapped. And to those whio say voting 3rd party will elect Hilary, .......well when it is all said and done, a dupe induced DJT presidency may not look that much different than hers anyway. I'd rather not have the GOP blamed for a Trump debacle of a presidency..

And when more of the "off the Record" NYT Interview comments become public, there are going to be a lot of folks that will feel more betrayed than they realize. Principles do matter.

“...the voters who are voting now are in some instances folks who don’t really participate much on the forum.”

I might be one of those you are referring to. I can’t speak for others, but I started lurking in the impeachment days (around 1998 as I remember). I was on expensive dialup and did not register until 2001. My main area of posting history was the war on terror. In my opinion the search and research function of FR slowly left and it became much more a spleen and bile venting forum with little or no thought or research. Mostly I have gone back to lurking (daily). FR is only a shadow of its former self, but still useful for keeping up with political issues.

The emotion venting function is highly evident in the Cruz/Trump postings. I have only once or twice commented specifically, but I am fully engaged in following the issues and positions. Beyond that I will not enter into the flaming that goes on.

I am fully a Trump supporter, and your caucus thread gives me an opportunity to register my Trump support without entering into all the overheated emotional, destructive nonsense.

Maybe there are others like me. I don’t know.
