I read about this a while ago, good news is that the two on the tarmac are okay and were released from the hospital.

A tow pin came loose when she was being moved for refueling. It sucks on a personal level for that to happen to such a beautiful bird.

Ouch! I had a friend who worked for BA at YYZ. He ran the tines of a forklift through the fuselage of a 747, right below the cargo door.

He eventually found a job in the air freight industry - far from any runway or tarmac.

This is one of the most common types of damage to aircraft. I once worked for a company that made a kit for repairing aircraft damage caused by forklift stabs.

The kit was really only intended as a temporary patch to allow the aircraft to fly until it reached a repair depot, but in many instances, the plane would just be put back in service until the next major maintenance.

Probably will spend some time at 22 Acacia Avenue until repairs are completed.

I had a friend at NAS Alameda that ran one of the tow tractors right into the bay.
