A Kansas mom of five who had just given birth to triplets died minutes after she arrived home from the hospital.
Casi Rott, 36, was briefly reunited with her two older daughters at the familys rural farm which she hadnt seen in months because she stayed with family closer to the hospital toward the end of her high-risk pregnancy on Feb. 8.
That day was the happiest Id ever seen her, her husband, Joey, told the Kansas City Star of the reunion.
But just after she walked through the door, she started having severe chest pains, brought on by a blood clot. She died as her husband frantically drove her back to the hospital.
Family, friends, neighbors and perfect strangers have rallied around Joey Rott and his five kids, 7-year-old Chloe, 2-year-old Tenley and newborn triplets Levi, Asher and Piper. An online fundraiser for the Rott family quickly surpassed its $10,000 goal, clocking in at nearly $85,000 Tuesday morning.

Wow that’s a rough story. Prayers for mom and family.
My God, I can’t even imagine. May God rest her soul. I hope they’re raised with the same morals that my country upbringing taught me.
So sad. He’s got his work cut out for him. God Bless them all. Prayers for them all.
How awful for that young family!
Prayers for this mom’s family and children.
Please send abundant help to the beloved husband she left behind and the five little children. Raise up legions of helpers for them, Lord, and console their hearts with that peace which surpasses all understanding. I ask all the Saints -- those here on earth and those who have gone before us -- to join in this prayer. In union with that Love Who is the union of all. Amen.
Sounds like a “saddle” pulmonary embolism. They almost never end well, unfortunately. Prayers up for the family.
I just finished talking about hospitals not admitting people any more for appropriate post surgery medical care and needed observation and appropriate pain / infection care, and then this.
This brings tears to my eyes and pain to my heart.
Seems like they should have kept her in the hospital longer after she had one clot.
Why would they assume she might not throw another?
Maybe her insurance didn’t allow a longer stay?
Because the insurance companies pay the doctor and hospital a bonus to discharge her ASAP. Each day she's there it eats at the customary fee paid for the procedure. Infection, blood pressure, mobility, pain management, be damned.
And under the HMO act of 1974, by Ted Kennedy, the insurers offering HMO plans are immune from recourse, as they are exempt from state insurance regulators oversight and enjoy legal immunity from law suits. HMO health plans are not insurance!
OMG!!! Prayers for the family.
OMG prayers up for this family!
Very sad. Prayers up.
RIP.
