Lubbock, Texas police said they could see signs of neglect everywhere: cockroaches climbing the walls, a dirty apartment, moldy dishes.

But perhaps the clearest sign something was amiss was when Shauna Bennett’s 3-year-old daughter reportedly told cops on Saturday: “I need a beer.”

Bennett, 42, is charged with abandoning and endangering her child after police found the little girl wandering her apartment complex, barefoot, dirty and with bed bug bites covering her body, FOX34 reported. Bennett is currently in jail on a $15,000 bond.

from the link:
Neighbor Keith Graves, who sometimes babysits the child, called the incident a misunderstanding.“A kid is going to play outside, not have shoes on and so forth, so a child being not clean, that’s just natural.” “It could have been cleaned a little better,” Graves said, “but Shauna (the degenerate who spawned the child) was doing the best that she could under the circumstances that she was in.”

3 year olds will say the most random things. So this one saying “I need a beer” would have been the least of my concerns. Now everything else? The child’s living conditions, the signs of neglect. Yeah, that’s a concern.

Not good. That’s a bad consequence of the welfare state.

The apartments are right in the heart of the “Tech Ghetto”.

I’ve seen faces like that woman pictured before. Those faces belonged to persons who have given up trying. Not much one can do for them.

This is one of the rare moments I believe in taking children away from the parents. Get them raised in an environment of better example. No child should be raised in despair to only promote despair if the child survives the despair.

The govt never seems to worry about these kids. But you’ll find the Child “Protective” Services prosecuting the most ridiculous cases against middle class families. I’m not sure how they profit from it though. Unless it’s just plain meanness. I know someone who quit working for the Utah DFCS a few years back because she couldn’t stand they wa a few senior case workers reveled in destroying families on the flimsiest of evidence. It is fact that virtually every minor taken by Child “Protective” Services is placed on psych meds. Disgusting.

They also like to keep the beds full in the NGO facilities where they house kids. The parents and children and the society are the losers in this situation. Nice paychecks for the case workers though. Where else can you get a job with a junk degree like psychology?

Three yr olds are adorable. Memories to hang on to when they reach the teen years. LOL.

That is absolutely the face of meth.

Poor kid doesn't stand a chance if she remains there.

In the "old days" extended family would step in. That doesn't happen anymore - we've given that responsibility over to the State. I have an old "uncle" who was adopted as a toddler in the 1920's by my great uncle and his wife. He actually is a distant cousin, but his biological mom was a drunk and his dad had disappeared. They raised him as one of their own. Having had the right environment, this young boy grew to lead a happy, normal and productive life and pass the same on to his children.

At least she didn’t tell the cop, “Here, hold muh beer”.

Guaranteed, if she has bugs, every other kid and adult in that complex does, too. If CPS hasn’t been called 15 times before, everyone’s kid there is in the same shape.

What I can’t figure out is why the moderators pulled the mom’s pic that I posted and comment related to it.
