I’ve heard sports teams are doing something similar.

I don’t know about specific teams, but, have heard that some baseball teams were dropping prices for midweek games, and/or games against lesser opponents, while instituting “surge” pricing when a major draw such as the Yankees come to town.

They can price tickets how they want, but I’d be very annoyed to pay a premium price and still have to wait a very long time. For amusement parks at least, they’re busy when they’re busy because that’s when most people can go, not during the week. Need to be careful about that, they could end up just losing customers instead of gaining anything. Professional sports are possibly a different matter.

Disney will often close rides on non-peak days to do maintenance, so even on non-peak days you still have to wait in long lines.

This still isn't a bargain. If you happen to live near one of these parks, the money you save going on a weekday is more than cancelled by having to take a day off work, or not being able to do it at all because the kids are in school.

This is an empty gesture.

We’re saving up for our annual passes now.

We’ll be ready for our two week stay at the World in September.
