I have had this kit for almost 8 years now. I started out working on it every other weekend at my house at the River in AZ. I brought it to California 2 years ago, I still only work on it Part Time, because well I have a JOB!!! ANyway I finally finished the outside completely and sprayed primer on it last Friday.
I only have a few brackets and mounts left to install on the Inside, putting 1 in today, waiting for some parts from Velocity, should be at mu house in AZ by this weekend. and then Spray the Inside with Zolatone Cockpit Paint. AFter that the Re-Assembly should not take too long.
I plan on First Flight this Summer, I Hope!
Just a little project of mine that is nearing completion. And I am starting to get excited!
Nice! What’s the power plant?
200HP IO360 with 600 hours on it sitting right here waiting
How many more man hours of labor are ahead of you? How many total labor past and future for the project?
I once toyed with the idea of setting up a production line for the Spencer Air Car which is available in kit form only. But running the numbers on labor and total cost per aircraft is staggering and leaves little room for profit.
Very nice!
Nice work, but your front wheel is on backwards. ;)
Nice. My last job was doing some of the design work to install the TCM IO-550 in bonanzas and c210’s.
When do you think she’ll go wheels up?
I have about 1500 or so hours myself, I paid a guy to do ALL the finish work and sanding, that took about 250 hours alone, and I have less than 200 hours of work left to finish. This was the Full Kit, No fastbuild anything. From Scratch. The FastBuild Options cut at least 1000 hours, and I Highly recommend it for everyone, should they embark on a journey such as this.
and the most important question...what does Mrs. eyeamok have to say about this venture?
:)
Should fly this summer, all in should come in less than $100K, Not bad for a Brand New plane with a cruise of 180 Knots! Mrs?? Well she is sort of OK with it, she likes the 172 though because it was built by someone else. Too bad for her, and she knows it! She will love it after it flies though.
I’ve only known a very few wives who think kit built is simply a grand idea! :)
“You didn’t build that!” /B.O.
LoL!
Someone had to be the first to say it...
