I've been reading FR for years now but haven't ever commented. I genuinely enjoy the commentary. Sometimes it's intelligent. Sometimes it's terrible. But it's always entertaining.
But I have a few questions:
Why does it take so much money to keep FR going? I have numerous sites that cost a couple hundred dollars a year to keep going.
Why is there censorship? Posts and comments at deleted. If they are bad or objectionable, why delete them? Why can't you self police this?
I hope you’re a defense lawyer.
There is censorship to maintain respectability. Otherwise, you just become Stormfront-lite. Americans aren’t really happy right now and we have strong, un-pc opinions. Probably for the best.
There is no commonality between here and Stormfront.
Now son, that there is an interesting story. The way I figger it, if you been reading FR for years, well then you would know the answer to those questions.
Keep the finger near the zot button fellas, don’t like the sound o’ this one.
Owner lives in California, for one thing. Everything is super expensive out there.
A couple of years ago, FR had a big outage that took many hours to fix. I don’t remember the details, but a lot of new equipment had to be purchased and put on the air in a short time.
There is a lot of traffic here. The amount of server rack space must be considerable. Also bandwidth.
There are no ads here, which means all costs must be borne by member donations.
I don’t know what sites you’re comparing to. Most of the free ones have extensive adware, pop-ups, and the like. None of those are present here.
I think “self-police” is what is happening when comments are deleted...
Some of the deleted posts could be duplicates....or have content that is copyrighted.
Step back. Look at the big picture. You aren’t part of it.
That’s because they censor, which as I say, is a plus. Ever read uncensored news comments on the net? They are a bit primitive.
The mods have been pretty good about giving everyone a pretty long leash.
After a few well-deserved time-outs, at least the personal attacks seem to have slowed a bit.
political correctness is dead and so the anonymous nature of the net allows for people to speak their minds, which they haven’t done in years. It is like draining a sore- there is a lot of pus and gore.
Your people I do not understand
So to you I wish to put an end
And you'll never hear surf music again.
A lawyer test for you.... Is Cruz a ‘natural born’ US citizen?
There is ZERO advertising on this website.
Ever.
There are no ads. Ever. There have never been any ads. Ever. Finally what we have here, is the single freest Conservative message board anywhere on God’s green earth.
Lay off the fundraising. It is how this site operates, and I believe it is why even now, it continues to be an independent voice of real conservativism.
Very, very rare.
Jim Thompson does a fine job of things around here.
Yeah, I’m here to ambush. Seriously, though. Why censor?
Most hosting sites give you unlimited bandwidth for a low price. I used bluehost. The only thing I can think is if the founder or the monitors are paid.
Yowee! There’s pessimism for you.
Yep. I lurked 5 years before my first post. The answers to those questions are obvious.
After 18 years they censor before posting me. I don’t use foul language or attack people. I express my disgust for Trump.
