Completely by accident, last night I watched the 2005 remake of "The Longest Yard" with Adam Sandler.
It was funny as hell. People I recognized, famous wrestlers and actors, Michael Irvin (in a #88 jersey for you Cowboys fans) almost scene-for-scene from the original film, but a VERY funny movie just the same. Homages to the original every few seconds. And Chris Berman, hahahaha. Worthwhile.
Highly recommendo.
Was this the one that Burt Reynolds did before?
Yep. And spoiler, BR is in this one too.
What’s his role? Thought the first one pretty good except for that scene where his friend got burned up in his cell.
The first one is always the best.
I cannot tell you any more without spoiling it, except that Burt plays a convict who was a Heisman Trophy winner, and he plays in the big game.
Like I said, almost scene-for-scene, and darned funny. I don’t think you will be sorry if you rent it.
With few exceptions, fo sho. And I normally hate remakes, but this one is worthy. And my opinions, as always, are worth exactly what you pay for them.
It was OK. I’m not a Sandler fan, but he did it proud.
Sorry, if that sandler dork is in it, no way.
It is a well done homage to the original. I am quite fond of both movies.
There aren’t all that many comedians I really like all that much (Jackie Mason, Eddie Murphy, but. . .) I loooove Adam Sandler. Just the headline made me start laughin.
We will watch this movie.
Thanks for the tip, Chuck!
I saw this movie on TV in 2007 about a month before Appalachian State played Michigan.
Remember the scene where slack jawed retard Sandler told the warden to schedule a push over patsy practice game—— “ you know, against somebody like Appalachian State”. I damned near choked on my sandwich.
Yeah, schedule Ap State for real in a game against your movie crew you SFB Hollywood morons. I wanted to see Jerry Moore’s boys put up 200 points on them.
(Moore, former Texas Tech HC and his boys were three time National Champs in the FCS).
