That was a popular form of punishment/torture in the Soviet gulags. I wish I could remember the book where it was described in such detail that it still bothers me 20 years later .

I saw a documentary on Japan’s prisons once. They are not harsh but they are not easy street. They make the prisoners ask permission to do everything even flush the toilet. They will set Mohammed strait that is for sure.

I heard Japanese prisons were not that harsh but their system was geared in teaching the inmates respect, which is something they feel they did not learn on the outside and that’s why they commited the crimes. To me that seems pointless to try to teach muslims, that society has no respect for anyone or anything.

When my daughters were still in their early teens, we allowed them to travel all the way from Kobe to Tokyo to visit friends and return a few days later.
