I once worked on a court case in which a husband beat up his wife because he thought she had contracted “syphilitis.” As it turned out, she had been ill with encephalitis. I hope she divorced the idiot.

My Doctor told me he was taking a family medical history, and asked a rural woman what was her grandfather’s cause of death. Her eyes grew wide “HE WAS SEIZED BY A VULTURE!!” she resonded.
Intrigued, the doc got the victim’s name and found his death records in the state’s system. Cause of death: “Seizures and Convulsions.”
