WHO meets to decide if 'explosive' Zika virus is a global emergency ... worse than Ebola

The World Health Organization will meet today to decide whether the Zika virus outbreak suspected of causing a surge of serious birth defects should be considered a global emergency on the scale of Ebola.

The UN health agency warned last week that the mosquito-borne disease was 'spreading explosively' in the Americas, with the region expected to see up to four million cases this year.

Experts also fear the warm weather system El Nino will fuel the outbreak by increasing the mosquito population.

Brazil sounded the alarm in October, when a rash of microcephaly cases, a devastating condition in which a baby is born with an abnormally small head and brain, emerged in the northeast.

Since then, there have been 270 confirmed cases and 3,448 suspected cases, up from 147 in 2014.

There are also growing fears for the Rio Olympics in August, with female athletes saying they may not compete over concerns of contracting the illness.

If it means having a chance of adding a couple billion to the WHO budget, they will find it to be a crisis.

Weather conditions associated with this year’s El Nino are also expected to increase the mosquito population in many areas, she said.

It is time to eradicate the the family Culicidae from the Planet Earth.

The claim is that the disease will cause babies to have tiny heads. That statement is simply WRONG!

Babies with tiny heads are caused by a different disease that their parent carried while they were in the womb....it’s called LIBERALISM.

The tiny head is not capable of containing the “common sense” gene due to its tiny size. A normal brain must exist to be able to carry enough brain cells to have common sense and reasoning.

A one time shot of DDT should cut the odds. But you have to do it in the area...as soon as you find it. Kill the larva along with the mature species.

Naw....ya think and think about it and the population grows and more die.

Just do it and do it now.

Unless governments ditch the pseudoscience and start using DDT extensively, this Zika outbreak will worsen. It will devastate the economies of Central and South America, worsen the world recession and ruin the 2016 Olympics in Brazil. This virus however probably has crazy environmentalists cheering. It discourages and makes human procreation ineffective. They would do anything to limit human population especially in the Third world.

I remember in my youth, seeing county trucks ‘fogging’ the vegetation along the roads. Who knows what type of poison they were using, but I’d bet the practice has stopped.

Fast forward to today, and many don’t know it, but the EPA continues to create new regulations from the 1973 Clean Water Act. The latest incarnation of rules includes ‘stormwater quality’, which actually encourages/requires shopping centers, office parks, and residential developments to have a swamp somewhere on the property...to ‘clean’ the water. This is contrary to 150 years worth of practice, in which we tried to get water away from these places as fast as possible. Bring on the mosquitos, I guess.

I live in an area of lakes, ponds and swamps in Minnesota. Every late spring a mosquito control helicopter flies around misting the pond across the street and the swamp behind our house. It’s our state ‘bird’ here and they do take steps to control them.

There have always been mosquitoes, so I wonder what happened to make this such a threat. Is it that finally the human population was dense enough in the virus’ territory that it was able to spread quickly, or was there some kind of mutation in the virus that allowed it to be transmitted more easily?

On a related note, I can’t wait for the first outbreak of MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome) in Europe. MERS had a 30% mortality rate in some areas.

Epidemics and pandemics have only gotten worse since WHO became active.

It is obviously doing something very wrong.
