A former conservative activist has a fascinating explanation for the Republican Party's implosion

In short, this (anonymous) person said, the Republican Party had been a stool supported by three legs: national defense, free-market economics, and social values.

But the person said that thanks mostly to President George W. Bush, the party has failed on the first two legs. The country has shifted significantly on the last one, and there's nothing a Republican candidate can do to change it.

As a result the Republican Party is in disarray, and Trump is taking advantage.

My experience has been ‘upper level’ GOP operatives have no idea how many people are angry about immigration. I honestly believe that is driving a significant amount of Trump support.

I don’t that’s the case at all. The Party is actually in great shape when measuring elective office. We have good margins at every level from Senate and House down to the state houses.

Trump is succeeding for one simple reason. The political class has been such a massive failure for the past 10+ years that many voters are simply tuning them out. It’s why Cruz, Trump and Carson have utterly dominated the primaries. WELL over half the voters are rejecting every political class option, and that includes Rubio, Paul and Christie who at times were each darlings of the base voters. Voters have tried everything to stop the BS, and nothing has even slowed down. Trump is outside the system and at the same time a master of media. He has simply dominated the discussion from his first day in the race and voters are ignoring the party smart people.

This analysis doesn't have a stool to stand on.

Hypocrisy, duplicity and syncretism are killing us.

I assume you mean social issues? Baby killing and gay marriage?

Really? Federal judges have imposed a godless morality upon the nation and the elites in Washington jumped into the filth with both feet.

Remember when Pres. Clinton taught our children that oral sex wasn't sex at all?

We need a Constitutional Article 5 Convention of States.

Mark Levin: The Liberty Amendments

This is the best road to restoring the Constitution.

Imo, this anon dude is just vomiting up the usual excuses generated by the viche GOP.

And that’s the problem. A huge portion of the actual conservative US citizenry has bailed on the GOP because the GOP is nothing but a bunch of bent spined moral cowards kowtowing to the destructionist left.

The current GOP stands for nothing. They simply sit down and comply with whatever demands made by the DNC. All opposition to the left is merely shadow play like that moronic “government shut down” bullcrap.

The GOP has been earning this implosion for decades.

Numerous studies are crystal clear that you are correct.

This nation has not been this Republican since the late 1920s

There are more elected Republicans everywhere at every level than anytime in history.

The ongoing ramifications of this are massive. With more local power, Republicans make life for Democrats more difficult at an organizational basis.

State legislatures and governors have huge powers and they are largely unscrutinized.

Obama has galvanized Republican advocacy like never before.

In addition to being “America’s best gun salesman”, Caliph Baraq has certainly helped elect a lot of Republicans.

Exactly.

This analysis is the left whistling past the graveyard.

The Conservative Social issues base is energized and strident.

The Conservative National Defense base is energised and emphatic.

The Conservative Free Market base is healthy, because of the desire to repeal and replace Obamacare. It has solid ground on pushing repeal of the destructive EPA CO2 and Coal fiascos, but is hurting on trade and manufacturing.

Hogwash.

The voters gave the GOP a mandate in 2014 to dismantle Obamacare and stop the rapid movement of the country to the left.

Within a week of the newly elected GOP congress taking office, it was announced that the GOP would not use it’s power to control the budget to eliminate Obamacare. Then illegal immigration was pseudo-legalized, the horrible Iran “deal” and the budget that was just passed.

The voters are kicking the old guard out. Only Trump and Cruz have demonstrated a willingness to follow through.

A glorified blogger, minus the glorified, purports to quote a purported and quite anonymous 'former activist'? BS.

This is the take of a liberal-tarian. The GOP has been leftist socially for a long time. It’s been corporate welfare for a long, long time. It’s been anti-American middle class globalist for a longer time.

It’s dead, Jim. Liberal-tarianism is dead. It’s an economic Darwinian banshee with a atheistic/satanist social knife in it’s fist.

Global liberal-tarianism blew it’s wad. It’s over.

No clue? They have a clue but they think the anger is coming from “crazies”.

The Tea Party was an outgrowth of initial anger on a number of issues. The Tea Party movement turned into efforts to elect conservative firebrands that would take control of Congress.

In 2014, Chris McDaniel won election to be Mississippi’s US Senator. He actually won the first count clear of a runoff but was not aware of the fraud that had put the numbers into a mandatory runoff.

The second runoff count laid bare what the GOP establishment (GOPe) was willing to do to stop conservatives from being elected. Fraud, democrat-crossovers, money paid to black-activists to scare the black population to crossover and vote against ‘racist’ McDaniel, the money coming from GOP PACS through McConnell, revealed the GOPe was as vile as democrats.

And then there is the wrongful death of a Christian man named Mark Mayfield, a timid but influential tea party supporter who was pulled into the Cochran-Barbour Mississippi criminal machine that included town mayors and police departments (both Cochran and Barbour are former democrats who conveniently switched parties when it became clear the South was done with democrats).

And then it was revealed the Barbour criminal machine was funded by the corrupt crony Export-Import Bank operated as a slush fund for various political locks around the country.

Then Ted Cruz revealed that McConnell lied to him that expiration of the Ex-Im Bank would not be renewed, that there was no deal to bring up a renewal vote, but there was and it passed. Defunding the Ex-Im Bank did not require Obama’s signature because it was set to expire without renewal.

And there is so much more.

The 2014 GOPe corruption was exposed and no republican with an ounce of integrity could ever find a way to support that party unless they were willing to throw in the towel and let the GOP operate like democrat criminals.

The Reagan Revolution had been on life support until it finally died in 2014.

Now here’s the thing, the NY media and banking empires have captured the institutions in Washington. The federally funded denizens of the Washington metro area have been living in a bubble of unprecedented growth while the rest of the country has languished on life support. The only wakeup they have had in the past 10 years was from a fellow named Ted Cruz who led a fight to fund everything but Obamacare and was denounced as shutting down the government. Federal officials, employees and contractors all became angry that someone had the audacity to threaten their comfortable lifestyle.

No one has asked where is the world did ten TRILLION dollars in debt disappear to? A debt that dwarfs the entire historical debt of the United States has transferred to bank accounts but no one is asking where or to who?

This above is just the tip of the iceberg pointing to the root of the anger. The country is very close to being lost to its historical constituencies and this is why conservatives are angry and why Donald Trump is the frontrunner.
