As families of the lost Challenger astronauts gather with NASA to mark the space shuttle accident's 30th anniversary, there's a new voice to address the crowd.
June Scobee Rodgers -- widow of Challenger commander Dick Scobee and longtime spokeswoman for the group -- is passing the torch to daughter Kathie Scobee Fulgham.
Fulgham -- not Rodgers -- will be on the stage for Thursday morning's ceremony at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.
And making a rare appearance in the audience will be schoolteacher Christa McAuliffe's son, Scott, with his own family.

Has the Obama Administration blamed the Challenger crew members for being on the shuttle when it exploded?
I think the Challenger Crew more aptly fit the description of Hero’s rather than victims.
Probably just me, lately it seems my old school conservative values are out of whack with the new conservative values that are morphing into some kind of creation beyond my recognition.
ME: “What? The Space Shuttle doesn’t just ‘blow up’.”

I have serious issues with the use of the word “hero” when it isn’t really applicable. My parents were “heroes” to me, but it is my own application of the term in a private manner.
A football player, or actor is not a hero, unless they are jumping into a frozen river to save someone.

I remember that Christa McAuliffe had a six-year-old daughter, who begged her not to go. I wonder if she is still angry and traumatized. I have never respected McAuliffe for that reason.
