An article in which Jeremy Clarkson criticised changing attitudes towards transgender people has provoked a storm of criticism on social media.
The self-proclaimed "equal opportunities loudmouth" used his weekly column in The Sunday Times to argue that parents who "indulge the whims" of children wanting gender reassignment are living "lunatic lives".
He also commented on the recent focus on high profile transgender cases, writing: "We must now all turn our attention to the plight of people who want to change their name from Stan to Loretta. As far as I was concerned, men who want to be women were only really to be found on the internet or in the seedier bits of Bangkok."
According to Metro, Clarkson's "rant" took "specific aim at parents of trans children, saying that they were 'poisoning the minds' of their kids by indulging them".
The 55-year-old TV presenter gave the anecdote of a child who was born a boy but took a girl's name and started wearing girl's clothes at the age of three and, later, went to a girls' school.
"And her parents had simply indulged this whim."

I’ve seen magazine photos. She is quite masculine in appearance. She always had rather neutral features, and of course aging makes a impact.
I like Clarkson but people whose analysis concludes with “...well it’s not the end of the world is it”? Are effing stupid. The irony here may be that if the twitter verse can pull him down it WILL be the end of the world for him, unless operating a car park somewhere is living, in his mind.
