The Eagles Are Nesting!
Minnesota DNR ^ | 1/25/16 | Minnesota DNR

It's that time of year, again. I've been watching this cam for a week or so and this is the first day that one of the eagles has been sitting on the nest.

I can't tell if she's trying to lay an egg or if she is sitting on one.

This cam has much better resolution than years past, especially full screen. They have add a light source so you can watch after sundown.

Got a favorite eagle/raptor cam link you'd like to share?

Post them here so we can all enjoy them as spring approaches!

Sorry to sound like an eeyore, but won't that artificial light source disturb their sleep / circadian thingy?

Don’t know. This is the first time they’ve done it. Maybe they’re using night vision.

Looks like she’s trying to push one out right now.

Fantastic, I have been watching and waiting for days, I was beginning to get worried since they came earlier last year.

Yep. This nest had three eggs in it on 1/25/15. I checked earlier today and there was no sign of activity.

I saw a group of 12 trumpeter swans flying across a field yesterday on the way home from the boy’s hockey game. They have been growing in population in the last ten years.

I always see and mostly hear large groups of them while deer hunting near Bemidji.

This one was obviously not nesting. He was eating road kill possum in front of my house in NW Florida.

There are hundreds of them from Monticello down to Delano. Nearly every marsh with a little open water has a nest in it from Waverly to Maple Plain on Highway 12.

On the way to work my wife drives by a house that has some free range ducks, geese and chickens. One day my wife looked up and an eagle was circle the area and a woman was shouting and waving a broom around in the driveway and if you are in the area there is a massive nest on highway 55 between the Loretto turn off and Medina on the North side of the highway. I haven't seen the eagles there yet this year though.

I was very upset one eaglet died last year, but watch until the two remaining left. You do get attached. I enjoyed the tagging. They are great parents and bring in lots of interesting food for their young. Here is hoping for another successful year.

Yeah, that was tough. But it always seems that there are always three eggs and we always lose the ‘runt’.

Yeah, she is one tough Eagle, she is a tagged Eagle if I remember the comments from last year, she was hurt and nursed and put back in the wild so that is how they know she is the female and returns to the same nest. The snow shouldn’t bother her, I watch the Eagles in Florida (Romeo and Juliet) and they have different weather environments, these are strong birds and adapt well to their environs. However, the DNR Eagles are my favorites.

She stood up about an hour ago and it looks like she’s about to deliver number 1.
