I can’t believe how wrongheaded these “activists” are. They’re actually insisting that a “token black” be nominated. I suppose we’ll have to apportion nominations to “token Latinos”,”token Asians”, and certainly “token sexual minorities” as well. Everything the BLM “movement” touches turns ridiculous.
Oh, I forgot that scene. Oh, he’s really desperate in the beginning. I’m pretty sure Newman got a nomination. Did Mamet win a screenplay award? There is a black man in the movie so I guess we can give it a pass!
Actually, I think the movie was better (certainly stranger) than the book it was based on. The Webley-Fosbery he carried was an “semi-automatic revolver” that would not actuate with the blanks they were using. After he fired it, he had to grab the barrel and push it backward to move the cylinder to the next chamber before he could fire again.
That just goes to show that whenever a clueless newspaper reporter talks about a semi-automatic revolver, he might be right. Maybe. Possibly.
